Hello all.
I am new to this forum. I need some advice on what to do.
I am a 29 year old male. I am about 6-2 and I am now around 230 (I started my diet and exercise plan in January).
For the last six months, I have abandoned beer and fast food, and I have eaten mostly fish (baked catfish or raw salmon). When I do cheat, I usually snack on Kit kats or have a hotdog.
I have been playing a lot of basketball lately (at least 30min - 1hr) and lifting weights (2 times a week). However, even though I am losing weight, my love handles just don't seem to budge. Most of my weightloss has been around my rib cage area and my hips and thighs.
I am not sure if this is the effect of my six month, low calorie (1200-1500 calories) diet, or if I simply need more time.
I am prepared to change things up with a little advice from anybody who has undergone something similar. I now plan to play basketball for at least 2 hours a day now because my knees and back no longer hurt.
I feel good overall and I am back in my 36-38 pants that I was wearing last year, but I really want to break through to a size 34-36.
I am also prepared to eat more calories if necessary.
Thank you all very much,
Mike

First off salmon is relatively high in fat, and I think you should switch to eating leaner meats like chicken and tuna. If you've hit a plateau, which everyone does many times during this process, then it's time to switch up your routine. Keep the cardio up, but increase the time, which you are doing, good. For men, fat tends to stay around the love handles and mid-section. You can eat another 500 calories per day safely also.
You may want to try a fat-burner which have been known to effectively target the midsection for men and the thighs for women. Nutrex Lipo-6 is a good one. There are also "cutting gels" which you can apply topically to a certain area and they encourage fat cells to absorb into the blood stream and are eventually removed from the body. Experiment with different supplements until you find one that works for you.
Congratulations on your success so far and good luck!

Thanks alot, I definitely appreciate the advice.
I basically think that for the last six months I underate. I mistakenly thought that if I ate just enough to exercise, then the weight would come off very easily. Well it did for the first 30+ pounds.
But I probably will start eating around 1800-2000 calories a day for the next two weeks, while I continue basketball.
THen in about a month, I will probably be eating around 2500 calories and playing basketball at least two hours a day.
