Doing a water fast under the current conditions is a VERY bad idea.

I am an advocate of water fasting, but this is a bad idea for two reasons:

1.) One of the biggest risks associated with water fasting is electrolyte loss. Electrolytes are substances such as sodium and potassium that your body needs to survive. During a water fast, as long as you don't drink too much water or sweat significantly, your body conserves them fairly well.

However, the process of throwing up rids your body of a very notable amount of electrolytes, which can cause a variety of negative effects, even death, by directly stopping your heart. Even doctors which advocate water fasting will tell you to cease your fast immediately if vomiting occurs.

2.) 3 weeks is way too long for your first water fast. If you simply must do it, do not do more than 5-10 days, and then give your body as long of a period as possible to recover. Water fasting has enormous health benefits, but you have to do your research, as there can be serious health risks if done incorrectly. Check out the following thread for starters:

I have eaten to the point of vomiting on many occasions, myself, and no good can come from it. It does sound like you are on a dangerous road - I would seek help from someone you trust. If you don't want to talk to your parent(s) about it, then try a school counselor or an older family member that you trust.

Your body is going through a lot of changes right now, and not giving it proper nourishment can result in permanent damage to your body as get older. The health decisions you make now will affect you for the rest of your life - trust me.

Also, your are right in the middle of a healthy weight by the standard BMI scale. I know that it can be difficult to accept your body the way it is, especially with the media stating that you should look this way or that way. There's nothing wrong with wanting to be pleased with how you look, but make sure that you stay healthy in the process.

Good luck to you.

You are 14 years now and you are going through the major changes with your body at the moment-physically and mentally too and fasting is not something you should do.

That is what happens-people say "I will lose weight by throwing up food and once I reach my target weight I will stop vomitting" but then they never do or it takes them so many years and efforts to sort out the problem...

What you are doing is perceive your weight as the major problem and is the cause for all your life trobles, which if put in other words mean feeling bad is perceived as feeling fat.

There is nothing wrong with you wanting to lose weight and that is absolutely possible. Just don't go for quick results-there is no quick fix.

If you don't establish new habits now while losing weight, don't hope to establish them once you are at your target weight. You need to eat a balanced diet to provide yourself with all the encessary nutrients and energy too. Start doing some exercise-30 minutes daily will be great for a start. The key is REGULARITY.

Everything is good in MODERATION, so treat yourself to some chocolate or a piece of cake once a week. The thing is that if you keep thinking in "all-or-nothing" nature, you are doomed to have eating problems.

And by the way, if you decide to go on with vomitting, the price you pay for this behaviour in the end could be VERY HIGH-the abscence of the menstrual cycle(especially now when your body is changing) and inability to conceive, heart irregularties, kidney, throat damage and gastrointestinal problems too.
