| I'm just curious if anyone here has only needed to lose around 20 lbs. or so and lost it? Also, how did you lose it and how long did it take you? I'm 5'4 and 143lbs right now. I am technically in my healthy weight range, however, I am at the high end of it and I am not happy with the way my body looks. I know it is harder to lose weight when you don't have that much to lose so that is why I would like to hear from those who lost it and didn't have that much to lose to begin with. Thanks.

When I started going to the gym a long time ago, I thought I only needed to lose 10-15 pounds to look good. I have since lost 45 pounds, and it looks like I will need to lose about 20 more. You might need to lose more than you think to get the looks you want. Or you might not.

Haha, vegaobscura, that sounded kinda sad . I know what you mean though. When I first started losing weight I thought I wanted to lose 30 lbs to be perfect... now I want to be 15 lbs under that.
Want2beskinny... I'm sure you won't need to lose more than 20 lbs since you're 5'4 and only weigh 143, don't worry. In fact, I bet if you add some muscle as well you would love how you look at only 10 lbs less since muscle weighs more .

VegaObscura,
If you don't mind me asking, what was your starting weight? Also, how did you lose the weight and how long did it take?

I'm a male, 5'10", 17 years old. My starting weight was 205, and I lost the first 15 pounds just by exercise with no diet. After that I couldn't lose any more with exercise alone. At first I just stopped eating all the 'bad' stuff. No fast food, nothing fried, no sweets. My diet slowly became increasingly strict, now I won't eat any beef, pork or white bread, and whenever possible I go for sugar free and fat free alternatives to normal foods and eat 100% whole wheat bread. My calorie intake is around 1700-2000 calories per day and I exercise for about 3 and a half hours 6 days a week. My diet started about 5 months ago, and there have only been 2 times when I ate anything that I thought of as 'bad' or 'not as healthy as it could be'. The first time was when I was taking a GED exam at a college I had never been to. I only had 20 minutes for lunch which wasn't enough to get home or to any restaurant. So I went to the cafeteria and had a cheeseburger. It was greasy and disgusting, and tasted like the best thing I had ever eaten. The second time was not just one meal, but a series of meals when I went on vacation to Disney World, and I made a whole post about it in this forum. You can probably find it if you look through the old topics. Aside from those two times, my diet has been 100% free of binges or treats. Hope that info helps =)

Well, I needed to lose more than 20lbs and did, if that counts...
Lets see, I think I was about your weight a year or so ago, maybe more. I had a slight set back cause of a thyroid problem.
But, after that was taken care of. I just stuck to the regular diet plan that I had, I did however add exercise at this weight. Which is something I didn't do up till that point. I started out at 174lbs or so.
I only find it hard now that I am down to the last few pounds. I go up and down like a yo yo, and can't seem to get the last 5lbs to go away. I at about 124-125lbs average. So, I would say your first 10lbs probably won't be to hard, after that, you will have to be strict with yourself.
Oh yea, I did it by just regular old dieting and exercise.

Hi, I'm new
I'm 5'5 and 138 ibs. I'm also trying to lose around 20 ibs. One thing I found a bit disappointing was losing weight and realising that I had to be a lot smaller to get the look I wanted. I think in the end it's all about going amping up everything. I bought a dietary supplement to bring in some assistance with my metabolism and I plan on doing an extra 15 minutes of exercise.

Easy just count your calories, know how much to eat and exercise. I never had that problem losing the last 20 lbs before I hit my goal weight. It take serious discipline but if you got it won't be hard

| Well, my unadjusted rmr is 1369 but when I adjust it for light exercise it goes up to 1882. I'm eating an average of 1100 calories a day so I have a deficit of about 782. Is this good or should I be eating more calories?

Maybe someone else on here will have a good answer, I don't want to give bad advise...

Yes I've lost 20 lbs so far. It did it doing the Turbo Jam video as well following a modified diet. The first 10 days is high protein low carb. Then afterwards you pick up more calories but the caloric intake is still restricted. You eat 5 times a day and work out with a mix of cardio and strength training at least 5 days a week.

The last few lbs to lose are the toughest. I would recommend trying a clean diet. Including lots of chicken, fish and veggies. Keep carbs limited to a slice of bread, a whole wheat pita, a whole wheat tortilla, or a cup of brown rice with meals. Also, try eating 5 times a day. 3 meals and 2 snacks. Use a meal replacement or protein shake as one of your snacks for the day. It helps control hunger and cravings. Plus you get tons of protein. Another snack that's actually pretty good is a cup of cottage cheese. You can spinkle paprika on it to spice it up. Eat that with a cup of fresh berries of your choice. Eat clean and exercise for at least an hour day at least 5 days a week.

I would up it to around 1200-1300 and drink lots of water, but that's my opinion

I suggest you to go for some diet plan that will help you out in making a proper diet for you and how much calories you need to take per day. I tried the diet plan of mydietchef, this plan is really awesome.

Mr Anderson, that's hilarious that your name references the Matrix and you were in the Marines. Although maybe it;s really your name and not meant to reference the Matrix, but that's what I thought of
How do you expect to make a phone call Mr. Anderson if you're unable to speak?
