Ok, since it is cold out today, I didn't want to walk. So, I decided to do one of richard simmons tapes.
Anyway, then I wonder how many calories I would burn doing that for an hour. I looked up just general aerobics and it said like 366 calories for my weight.
Then I looked up what walking would be for an hour and it was like 188 or something.
So, I guess my question is- Does doing aerobics really burn that many more calories than walking? That seems like allot.
Would really appreciate any ones opinion on this.
Cause heck, I just may start doing that everyday. It would take less time, and I can do with the kids, they love running around to the music.

I think it depends on how much of the time is spent doing the aerobics.
Typically, walking is a non-stop event, unless something comes up. Some aerobics videos allow breaks in-between, so that would definitely have an impact, because it gives your heart a chance to drop back down to resting zone.
In general, though, I imagine it does, as it is more of a full-body workout. The more muscles you use, the more calories you burn, as a general rule of thumb. Get that heart pumpin', sister!!!

I always keep my legs moving through the breaks if he has any, most of the time it's just to take a heart reading and then back at it.
I don't think my heart rate got up to the same when I walk fast, but I did sweat a whole lot more then when I walk.
I did a different tape this time, instead of the one I am use to. It was hard keeping up. It also, had ab exercises at the end that about killed me, lol.
Nothing like good old richard to keep ya sweatin..
I think I am going to do another tape this afternoon, my usual one, that I know. Burn some more calories, since I have been hitting the cookies hard lately.
