Why oh why does cookie dough have to be so good. I am making bars today, and I can't stay out of the dough. It's like I think I am getting away with something cause it's the dough and not eating the actual finished product.
I have no will power
And to top it off, I have to wait for the first batch to cool, so I can use the pans to make more. So, while I wait the stupid dough is just sitting there waiting for me to pick at it. Gee, I really wish I had more pans...

| Maybe a litany of "salmonella, salmonella" would help. (Although the cookie-dough conundrum is one of the reasons I do not bake. It's a killer.)

Yeah, well no need to worry about it now. I have eaten so much of it, that I feel sick to my stomach. Now I am just trying to get them all done without puking, lol.
I guess I better be sucking on some tea.

| I bake a ton, especially on the weekends. I've found that it's best to not even have one bite (or lick) because once you do it's almost impossible to stop! Maybe go outside and do something while the first batch bakes so you won't even be near the extra dough.

Heh, this made me laugh! I used to love cookie dough -- my mom used to make huge batches, like over a hundred cookies (might have something to do with all the weight I gained growing up). My brother and I would be the stirrers, so while she dispensed ingredients into our bowels we'd sneak fingerfuls of the dough. Then, she'd let the dough set overnight in the fridge, so that would be another opportunity for sneaking dough!
Then I grew up and learned about eggs. So now, whenever I make cookies and the dough tempts me, more often than not all I have to do is imagine eating raw egg. And that kills the urge.

If you buy pasteurized eggs, it's usually safe to eat the dough.
Not a valid excuse for eating it, though! LOL

try putting the cookie dough away in between batches. I put it in the fridge. Maybe the out of sight out of mind theory would work for you. It doesnt work all the time for me but its worth a try.
