I haven't been thought about it a few months ago. I read about what could go wrong and don't believe it's worth it. The Lasik companies boast of a high success rate, but some people who they call "successes" report that their vision isn't "perfect" or "good".
People might say that the results were "great" but some people are only saying that because they feel too ashamed to tell the truth- that they vision is poor. They will admit to after you've had the surgery and are going through their same problems. When they do tell their opticians/surgeons about their problems, they're told that it will go away. For some, it lasts forever. Their surgeons refuse to listen to their pleas.
I'm assuming that you want to have surgery, then you should be prepared for what could go wrong. A lot of people thought "It won't happen to me" but it did. It could happen to you:
-They slice off the layer off the eye to operate inside. This flap NEVER heals back completely. If you lead a very active lifestyle and knock your eye, the flap could come off.
-Just because the results are great now, that might not be the case years from now. Tiger Woods is famous for it and he had to have it redone recently. Others have had problems 5-10yrs later.
-You might be left "floaters". That's the burnt off pieces of your eyes that float around. Some might be HUGE, possibly clouding your vision.
-Halos around lights. Many people cannot drive at night EVER AGAIN because it would be too dangerous.
If you do have it, I hope you're the majority where it goes right. Good luck to you!

I felt compelled to reply since I've had this surgery.
Depending on your vision to start with, they can get you to even better than 20/20. However, in my case.. I was legally BLIND... so my surgery was like a miracle job for me even if I can't see PERFECT. One eye is 20/20 and the other is 25/20. But I had a severe astigmatism in that eye that they tried their best to correct. With both eyes open I don't even notice it.
But you gotta be careful to follow their post-surgery instructions exactly, otherwise you risk screwing up the healing process, which can damage your vision. This includes wearing those annoying goggles to bed and in the shower. It's pretty tough to sleep with them on, but it's only for a few nights.
Also, don't expect everything to be crystal clear right away. Healing takes time, and although vision is MUCH improved instantly, it can still take 6 months to a year to completely heal and get the results you set out for.
Some people also experience glare at night after having the surgery. It lessens as time goes on, but sometimes it doesn't go away completely. You just gotta weigh the pros and cons. I can put up with a lil' glare at night for better daytime vision. lol Also, I don't know about anyone else, but for me the weather plays a part in how I see that day. It's weird. On dry, sunny, "perfect" weather days I can see sooo clearly. On muggy, cloudy, damp days I'm a lil' blurred. Sleep also has effects, but I think it does on anyone's eyes - surgery or not.
I had this surgery almost 3 years ago and it was the best money ever spent. Too bad insurance doesn't cover it!

There are definitely risks involved. Be sure to read up on them before you go through with ANYTHING.

My vision is pretty bad - if I recall, my left eye was 20/200 the last time I was tested, and it has astigmatism. My right eye is considerably better.
I've thought about Lasik, but I doubt I'll ever really consider it. As with a tummy tuck, or any other procedure, it's just not worth it to me to put myself at risk just to "look better". I don't really like wearing glasses, and contacts are inconvenient, but at least my eyes work - that's what's important to me.
