I was wondering if anyone has tried this and if so, how did it work? I have severe fibromyalgia and just can't walk or do much cardio anymore. So, this seems to look like it is passive enough (with weights) but appears to really work along with watching calories, portions, etc. Thanks!

I looked up the book. I can't say whether it would work or not, but I do want to clarify that a pound of muscle does not burn 50 calories per day - it burns about 6. Still, the process of breaking down and rebuilding muscle does increase your metabolism, but 8 minutes doesn't sound like enough time to really rev up your metabolism quite that much.
My grandmother has had fibromyalgia, and I know it makes it harder to get around. Still, exercise is both possible and beneficial for people with fibromyalgia. Check out the following article - it has some good tips:

I'm sure it won't be an easy road for you, but you can do it! Good luck.

Thank you for your response. The article was interesting and is exactly what I am talking about. Since I have stopped exercising the fibro has become worse. So I am trying to find something more passive to really get back consistently. I tried water aerobics and swimming which I do not enjoy and didn't help. So I am going to give this 8 minutes in the morning workout a try along with moderate walking when I can and see how I do.
