Not sure I even spelled that right.

Ok, what is it and where do you get it. Call me stupid, but I can't find it at the grocery store and I would really like to try it out.

I have heard it takes on any flavor you want, so it would be very universal as far as cooking goes.

So, please share....what does it taste like, how do you cook it, where do you get it, etc.

Where I live, tofu is usually found in the produce section.

I used to eat it. It's not too bad, but it's pretty bland. It does taste good fried in a skillet, LOL.

You can buy different consistencies of it. I like the extra firm.

Tofu, being made from soy, is very healthy, and I'm sure there are plenty of creative ways to make it taste good.

Here's a page with some recipes:

Happy cooking!

I tried five million ways of using tofu and only found one that I actually like (I know it's supposed to take on the flavor of whatever you use to cook with but personally I find it has a distinctive, not so yummy, flavor of it's own)...but I do like to use the really soft type (it's like cream cheese) and mix it with avocado to make lower cal/higher protein guac.

I love tofu! I eat it all the time.

It tastes good with a lot of things. Like soy sauce. :p

I like mixing it with rice too.

I tastes good with soup.

Or anything.

I eat tofu in Miso Soup and stir-frys. It is also very good deep fried but that just counteracts the benefits of it

Most grocery stores here have ethnic sections (Asian, Indian etc) and I find it either in the Asian section or as was stated earlier in the produce section.

Ok, I found some at the store yesterday and now I need recipes... I found one recipe that sounded good, but I don't have all the stuff for it.

So, if you have some good recipes, please post them....thanks

Tried the tofu today and I didn't really care for it. So, not sure if I will eat again or not. Probably not, knowing me....lol

Although I am big believer in that any food can taste good, if made right. So, maybe I will try a few more recipes, before tossing in the towel.

Personally I have no problem with tofu, I like it in almost any form, but my wife gets an aftertaste with it unless it's prepared a certain way.  We recently just tried "tofurky", it comes packaged like lunch meat and is pretty darn good in my opinion.  My wife had no problem with tofu in this form so if you want to give it another shot, that might be a better introduction than trying to prepare it yourself

Maybe I will try and make some more today.

My biggest problem with it- is it gushy, not firm enough.

But, I read you can bake it, to firm it up.... So, I will try it again...

I shop at Trader Joes and they carry a Baked Tofu that's already flavored.  I think they have Teriyaki and Spicy Thai flavors.  ANyway, I LOVE the texture, nice and firm.  I just dice it up and throw it in whatever... I have even eaten it on top of salads!  They sell it near the produce.

Not sure what other brands there are at other stores, but looked for the Baked variety - if you can.

Hey thanks! I will try some different kinds out.

I ended up making up the rest of what I had. I cut it up, baked it for awhile, then I put it in a skillet with olive oil spray, soy sauce, and Lowery's salt and fried the #%@&! out of it.

It's not to bad. I ate quite a bit of it. Here's a pic of it.

my mom  cooks with tofu a lot since I'm a vegetarian so that I can eat dinner with the family.  My favorite meal she makes with it is lasagna (spelling?).  Basically just use any lasagna recipe you already use and replace the meat with tofu.  I can't even tell the tofu's in there, usually.  Mistake it for the cottage cheese.

Ooh that picture makes my mouth water!

I personally love soft tofu! But I eat both soft tofu and firmer kinds.
