i just came home from eating spaghetti with marinara and mushrooms, and i tried to eat only half because i read that restaurants can put up to more than 4 servings on your plate. 1 serving of pasta could already be up to 200 calories. so does that basically mean i just ate 1000 calories?

before i went out to eat i felt desperately hungry because i tried to really limit what i've been eating, so i guess this is kind of like one of those overeating binge things..

It's all right, mm. Whoever came up with the idea that 2 ounces of pasta should be one serving should be taken outside and beaten with a wet noodle.

Not eating enough is like sending an invitation to binge eating. If you make healthy food choices, you can eat a lot more. Try to eat plenty of fiber, too, to help curb your appetite.

On a final note, we all have our moments. Don't let them discourage you. Just get back on the wagon.

thanks!
i do try to buy fruit for that fiber it's just they rot so fast so i usually end up throwing 2/3 of what i bought away
after eating a big meal like that, would it be good to eat something else with fiber like raisin bran, or would it just be packing on more unwanted calories?

Fruit is a good source of fiber, along with other nutrients, and is a very important part of your diet. However, in general, fruit just doesn't give you as much fiber as some other whole grain options. I eat 4 to 6 servings of veggies and 5 to 7 servings of fruit daily, but only about 1/4 of my daily fiber intake comes from fruit and veggies combined.

Kashi cereals and bars are excellent sources of fiber, and come in a variety of flavors - even a chocolate bar.

Bread can also be a great source of fiber. Watch out for corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup, though. Also, most wheat bread is not very healthy, despite it's "wheat" label. Look in the ingredients for "whole wheat flour", "stone ground whole wheat flour", etc. Stay away from bleached and enriched wheat flour. I eat Arnold's Flax & Fiber bread. All the carbs are from whole grain, and you also get 15% of your daily value of calcium with every slice.

As far as rotting fruit goes, try to buy some of it underripe for longetivity.

I bought a cantaloupe once that was extremely ripe. By the time I was finished eating it a few days later, it smelled like nail polish remover. Now THAT is ripe.

I don't wear nail polish, by the way, but my family does.

Hey, what might help next time when going out to eat, is to eat a salad first. I always do that when I know we are going somewhere and I don't want to over do it.

That way when I get there I am already full so I don't eat near as much.

Pasta has always been hard for me. I love it and it's very hard for me not to eat allot of it. So, I try to stay away from it. But, I do love my mac and cheese with tuna on it. So, I get some of that at least once a week.

And don't beat yourself up about it. We all over do it at times..... Just need to jump back on the band wagon.

Oh, one more thing...

If you buy underripe bananas, MAKE SURE YOU DON'T EAT THEM UNTIL THEY ARE RIPE!

Sometime this year, I ate an underripe banana, and it was NOT a pleasant experience. In fact, I threw up. Even monkeys know better than to eat underripe bananas.

No offense, Peter. :monkey: LOL

One more thing about banana. Once ripe, store them in the fridge. They'll be good for several days. Don't put them there if not ripe.

In my case, pasta is one of the worst choice of meal. One serving never satisfies me. Probably because it's loaded with carbs.
