I've currently been eating 2 cups of mixed fruits with a handful of nuts but I'm wondering if 1 egg + 1 egg white, scrambled with cheese on 2 slices of wholegrain toast would be better... what do you think?
My concern is that the nuts are a lot more fattening than the eggs and I'm not sure how much more protien the nuts offer, if any.
Please advise!
Thank you.

Hi travelindsay.
The nuts are more fattening, but it's good fat, as opposed to the whole egg that has 220mg of cholesterol in it (you shouldn't have more then 200mg in a day)
That being said, neither of these breaksfasts are that bad (2 cups of fruit can have a lot of sugar though - and I'd skip the cheese in the eggs unless it's super low fat.) I'd mix and match! (and watch the toast - some of those breads are VERY high in calories and have high fructose corn syrup in them.)
Happy noshing!

Hey thanks!
I'm thinking I might do the egg thing one week and fruit the next... I'm just so tired of #%@&! fruit every morning
and you're right... I completely forgot about cholesterol! Thanks!

You could also look around for some good whole grain waffles! I recently got Eggo waffles that are only 70 calories each and are whole grain.
Or, you could try some Kashi oatmeal, or some good cereal. I would get tiered of a fruit cup too everyday.
I never knew that about eggs! Thanks so much for the information!

Whether or not eggs are unhealthy for you has been hotly debated since at least the 80s. Current findings are that moderate egg consumption (2 eggs a day or less) does not increase heart disease. I would consider the breakfast with the eggs to be the better breakfast, because it has so much protein, which will keep you satisfied longer, and help you retain muscle while losing weight (if weight loss is your goal). Make sure your use of cheese is negligible though -- I LOVE cheese, but cheese serving sizes are shockingly small!
Also, as far as nuts go, they ARE high in calories, but they are basically a perfect food. As long as you eat the correct serving size of them, they are very healthy for you. The problem with nuts is that it's too easy to keep eating and eating and eating them!

Alls I can say, is that nuts are better for you than eggs and cheese. Nuts are fatting but very healthy for you. If you have high cholesterol nuts would be a better choice.
Plus, I would think that cheese is just as fatting as nuts.
I could never eat fruit every morning. I eat cereal, granola bars, toast, things like that. Mix it up. If you eat the same all the time, you will get tired of it.
