I wouldn't trust my own judgement on how thin is too thin, so I use numbers - which are not subjective. I've set myself a rock bottom number that I will not go below: the weight at which my BMI works out as 18.5 (the normal/underweight threashold). Perhaps you could find similar motivation in a number?
As it happens, my body seems to know what 's good for me and is currently keeping me 8lb above that number.
Perhaps another 'meter' of sane behaviour can be whether you are chosing to go below your unadjusted RMR of about 1200. Whilst your target of 100lb isn't necessarily mis-guided, clearly eating 300-700 calories a day is not a good idea. You're much better off losing more slowly: and if you ate more (healthy) calories you'd have energy to exercise, too.

I can assure you this isn't the case. Check out my diary if you like, I am maintaining my slim body (BMI less than 20, body fat around 12%) eating between 2 and 4 kilos of fruits every day. Fruit physically provide the bulk of my diet and proportionally the majority of my calories. If fruit were fattening, you'd think I would figure it by now

EDIT: the main danger with what you have done is that you are eating too few calories. Not an issue if you do it for one day, but do this day after day and you'll be in trouble

No, you arn't. It doesn't matter what time of day you eat your food because it all gets digested anyway. And even though fruits are high in sugar, they are extremely healthy. The sugar pieces of fruit is mostly worried about those who are on extremely strict diets or are diabetics and have watch every ounce of sugar and carb that enters their system.
700 is extremely low and not to scare you, can gain weight from too low of calories because your body will think your starving and it'll store everything the best it can.
If you haven't read the Tutorial please do so.
P.S. Some members who calorie count such as Nir; if they wake up at 1:30am and they know they haven't finished their calorie intake they'll eat a little something to make their daily mark.

Donamichael,
You are worried about the wrong thing. By eating less than your BMR or RMR, or whatever, you put your body in starvation mode. It will not want to burn fat, it will hold on to it.
Depending on your size, you should eat a minimum set number of calories and not go below that and exercise to burn off the deficit.
Here is what I recommend
1. Your body will do better if you eat breakfast. It starts your metabolism and you have more energy
2. Eat 6 meals a day and make them small to moderate for your calories. Peter's site has some good calculators to guide you as does the Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle plan, Weight Watchers, and several others. However, doing this speeds up your metabolism as it is constantly at work and gets into the mode of burning calories all the time.
3. By "starving" your body, when you do return to regular eating, it will feel like it needs to keep as much of it as it can to help you survive your next starvation period. This is bad.
Think of it like your dog...if you don't feed it, it will get hungry and surly. When you do put down food, he will wolf down every bite...not sure when he will get more food. He will not exercise to save energy and will be lethargic.
On the contrary, if you feed him regularly, he will only eat when he is hungry because he knows that he will have food and he will be full of energy and healthy
So yes you are in danger of gaining weight, but NOT because of carbs or sugar, but because of your lack of a healthy and regular eating regiment.

Danamichael, I am also new here.... I just joined the site today, but I have been reading alot of the forums here lately, and I thought I could contribute. I am all about diet too, and I count calories. I have tried all kinds of diets, and have been what you call "anorexic" time to time. Everyday, I count calories, and calculate how many calories, protein, carb, fat I eat. Currently, my weight is about 120, I think. I'm not quite sure how much I weight for sure because I haven't weighed myself for over 3 weeks now. I know if I get on the scale, I will be hating myself again.
I never have been over 133lbs at 5'6" height. But I always felt I was "chubby". I went down to 103lbs at same height time to time with excessive exercising, starving, calorie counting, etc, etc.
I don't believe anorexia is something that can be cured. And I'm sure even at age 70, I would worry about my looks. But currently, I'm coping with it and telling myself that I look alright the way I am without being 103lbs.
Weighing myself made me hate myself and go into panic mode. So why don't you also try not weighing yourself and start telling yourself that you are beautiful the way you are? It's hard, I know. I face my difficulties everyday. But when I feel the urge to starve and lose weight, I keep on reminding myself that I still fit into my favorite jeans!
Hang in there! You are beautiful the way you are!

Oh, sweetie, my heart goes out to you. It is so positively terrifying trying to deal with ED, but it can be done.
First I'll tell you what you already know--you're not eating enough. #%@&! of a lot of good that does, I know, but it is the truth. Dobie is right, you absolutely need to eat breakfast--and in a reasonable time frame (as in within two hours of when you wake up at the longest). This will get your metabolism going.
The thing to keep in mind is that your body is very vulnerable now--from the the continued heavy restricting and binging your metabolism will be, for lack of a better phrase, all out of wack. When you start eating a reasonable amount you're going to gain weight, it's essentially unavoidable. BUT. This gain is temporary. If you can not let the ED voices discourage you from giving yourself the food you need when you need it for an extended amount of time your body will right itself. The human body is an extraordinary machine and has amazing abilities to heal itself.
A friend of mine said something really helpful to me regarding this in my own recovery process--"You need to trust your body before it can trust you." Since you've vacillated between giving your body next to nothing and giving it more than it can handle it doesn't know what to expect but if you give it a good amount consistently it will know how to handle and use what you give it.
If it helps, thinlk about food as medicine--it's not fun, but it is good for you and will make you better given the chance. Also, in trying to recover this pro-recovery website-- webiteback.com has been very very helpful--it is full of wise and right-minded people and I strongly suggest you check it out.
Be kind to yourself and do not hesitate to ask for help! We are here for you!
