I just received an email telling me that is going to be incorperated into a new website called Strong.com. I went to register, and it asked for a "beta" code. I have no idea what that is, so therefore, I cannot register. The email had a line saying "your access code is ____" but did not give me an access code.
Anyone know anything about this?

| Did you eventually get a second email which included a beta code? I got one without a code and one with a code (about 20 minutes later)

Wouldn't let me register, said my username had already been taken [yeah right!] Tried the retrieve password feature which had my username and email correct, but still it won't let me sign in. Seems as though my account details have already been transfered but it refuses to let me use them?

Hi folks,
If you have also registered at The Daily Plate (http://www.thedailyplate.com), your TDP username has been reserved for use at STRONG.COM. That probably explains why your username would be unavailable at LS at the moment...
It will be "unlocked" for use on LS soon.

I too tried to register with the beta code that came with the second email. I got the same message beta code invalid, and user name taken.
If anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know.

No, Nir, I have never created an account there. In fact I have never even heard of it.

| Tip: it appears that the CaPiTaLiSaTiOn of your email address matters. Look at the email you got (the one with the BETA code) and look at how your email is captialized. Type it into the registration form exactly as it is spelt in your email!

Lex,
REDQUEEN continues to have a problem. Her email address as stored at calories per hour is in CAPITAL LETTERS. Here Beta code was (presumably) generated based on the capital letters in the email as originally presented. Yet there is (bug/feature) in the Register page which 'validates' the email into lowercase. Thus it no longer ties-up with with the Beta code. This seems to be the cause of the problem for her. Can you assist?

So far I have not been able to register. They want my zip code, and their is no country listed except USA. I am in Canada. Guess I will wait awhile and see what happens. Also say my user name is taken...of course by me!!!!
So have not even been able to look around on the site.

Maggie: I am in the UK. I used the zipcode 12345 when registering. (In the UK postcodes have numbers, letters and spaces)
Maggie, zenobia: what happens when you try to register with a different name, such as Maggie1 / zenobia1 ?

It is!
Snooped around and discovered you just have to email
support @ dailyplate . com
to have your account deleted and say what your username is. I don't see why they couldn't just include a Delete Account button like many other websites do. Hopefully that'll work and let me log on to the new site.

Thanks Nir,
Using the zip code 12345 worked. Is there such a place. Postal Codes in Canada are letters and numbers also.
I am still not registered, but using a number behind Maggie will likely work, just I would like to stay with Maggie....hoping they unlock it or something.

I'm having troubled signing up too. I couldn't use my name here 'Storm', cause it was 'already in use', and my code was invalid. I tried a different name (StormShinjou) which seemed to work fine, but it's still saying my code is invalid. O.o Help, please?
I saw the post about thedailyplate.com, too. I was gonna go there and search for a member there with the name 'Storm', cause even though I don't have a membership there, someone else might, with the same name. But the page isn't loading for me? I clicked the link AND manually typedin the address. Are they down for matenance or something? o.o?

Exactly how I feel mollymoo. I registered and received that beta code via email and logged on but?? I don't understand if anything is happening with this CPH site. That is not a place I would continue to visit like here. If I wanted a blog/group type of set up like that I would have stayed over at PeerTrainer. I, too, feel like this is family here.

I'd rather not get into a long discussion about this here or anywhere else in the forums. But for those who don't know what's up...
I started cph as a hobby with a calories burned calculator in 2000, and it grew from there. It became so successful that I could no longer run the site by myself, and so finally accepted an offer to sell.
XYZ bought cph in August; I have remained active in the forums because I love them. They also bought The Daily Plate, and my conjecture is that they planned to continue running the two sites and possibly others that they would buy.
But then a deal with Lance Armstrong came along, and they decided it would make more business sense to put all their efforts into one website associated with his name and celebrity. Again, this is conjecture.
I was a little surprised that they announce the new site to our members, and that cph was closing, without saying anything about what cph features -- if any -- will be moved to the new site. We'll just have to wait and see.
I'm sure strong.com will be able to reach a much greater audience, and help even more people with their struggle with weight loss and other goals. Albeit a little differently than a retired old man would do it from his visiting grandchildren's bedroom.
We'll know soon enough!

Peter, thank you. I'm sick at the prospect of waking up one day and finding CPH gone. Including all of the great calculators and the forums and the friends. - the most important additions to my life in recent times. I was hoping they'd leave CPH intact or link it with TDP. It will be sad indeed to lose it. Can we buy it back?

I don't seem to be able to login in strong under MollyMoo24. I had created another username with the beta code to get in and look at the site but would still like to be MollyMoo24. Can you please see if there is a reason that I cannot get in under MollyMoo24?

MollyMoo24, have you ever had a TheDailyPlate account? I know that all user names on that account are currently reserved (so no-one can 'steal' a user name that belongs to anyone on that website)
If you haven't, and given that everyone else seems to be eperiencing this issue, I guess all CPH users' names might also be reserved? I guess that means that when Strong goes 'live' your user name will become available to you.
(this is educated guesswork on my part)

First impressions - nice site but it is a MONSTER and obviously ruled by a small group of people. (as large sites have to be) . Anyone find anything like a regular forum on there let em know.

Midge! I found the group you created and your blog. I joined the CPHers group and also started a blog just to see how things work.
Just slowly navigating around there. I sent you a friend request, though.
CG - It's a little confusing right now, but after I joined the CPH group, I clicked on Midge's name that was listed as a member of that group, and it directed me to her profile page - and from there there's a box to click on to request to add her as a friend. Apparently we have the 'power' to approve/deny friend requests. Ok, clear as mud?

This is sad news. Out of all the forums I have visited this has always been my favorite. It has been the most friendly and easy to use. That's too bad if it is going to close. I think Peter deserves a round of applause for all the hard work he did over the years and the wonderful gift that he gave us. Thank you Peter. CPH has changed my life forever in a very profound way. I will never forget this place or the people I have met on here who have helped me along the way... Thank you Nir too.
I guess I will now see if I can go and check out this other site, like everyone else.
Will I be needing your help Nir? I'll go check first and then come back and beg for help.

Yesterday I sent an email to XYZ expressing my concern about losing access to a site I feel is directly successful in my ability to lose weight. Last night this is the reply I received from them:
Hi James,
Thanks for writing in. We appreciate your sharing your feedback with us, and your concern about losing access to key, important features is 100% understandable.
Starting very soon, STRONG.COM will offer a full suite of diet tracking and calorie calculation, powered by The Daily Plate (thedailyplate.com), which has collaborated with Calories Per Hour at various times in the past.
It's our hope -- and optimistic expectation! -- that once The Daily Plate section of STRONG.COM goes live, you'll find all the diet tracking tools you need!
Thanks again,
-Susy
susysez
I admit, yesterday I was set to threaten XYZ that either they keep CPH open or they would be losing me. This was my "shoot first, ask questions" reaction. Now that I've had a chance to think about it after readin Susy's reply, I will wait and see what will happen.
My opinion, Peter has done an excellent job in doing more than creating tne CPH and the tools in it. Peter has been a personal mentor to almost each and every one of us. I've seen founders who have created forums to step away from public view once everything had taken flight. This site has not only taken flight, it has also rocketed to the moon and back. Peter was visible the entire time and has replied to just about every new person who posted.
It's not just Peter either. I feel that attitude has rubbed off on many other people. I do hope that if Strong.com will be used to replace CPH they are able to continue with the same attitude Peter has used all along. I admit I am bothered that Peter is kept in the dark regarding the plans for CPH.
I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens.

It will never be able to have the feel of CPH. That place is huge!! It is totally impersonal--how can it be personal when it is so big??

The Daily Plate now has a tab on the Strong site. I don't remember seeing it there before, but I am getting old. Maybe CPH will be moved and have a tab next to The Daily Plate. This is hopeful speculation on my part of course. Just trying to keep everybody's hopes up.

Ok, here's something weird. Sometimes the tab is not there. And I don't know what I clicked on to get it to come up for the Daily Plate. I know, I must really sound crazy now.
But here's the address (of course you have to be registered to the site)

Sassykat, I took the reply to James as an indication that TDP is going to be their platform. Its only a question of "when" and what functionality from CPH that they might integrate into TDP.

Sassy - I tried looking around and didn't see the tab you say may be there for TDP. Where was it located? I will look again.
A strange thing I've noticed - I was never registered at TDP before, so I had no problems using my CPH user name over at Strong. Then, I registered over at TDP with the same user name...all was fine for a minute, and I've just noticed it won't let me view the forums once I sign in. I get the message 'this board has no forums'.
Perhaps it's just the same problem with the combining of the boards and all.

Actually my TDP user ID is MollyMoo24 with different capitalization. Cannot get in with either capitalization. It recognizes the user ID and will let me reset the password but will never actually let me get in, even with that password.

If you're signed in to strong.com and then use this address
The Daily Plate tab shows up. It's a white tab at the top on the right and then lower underneath are options of: Fitness, Forums, Groups, Diets, etc
But the forum section does not appear to be ready for use. My interpretation is that it has not been "moved" yet.
And I'm just assuming that a person wouldn't just purchase and then "throw it away." I could be wrong. There are so many illogical things going on in this world.
I too, cherish the friendships on here and I prefer the layout and qualities of over other forums. We'll just have to wait and see what they do with it I guess. I'm just trying to remain hopeful over something I obviously have no control over.

livesOk, I guess I was wrong FIRE MAN JOE (my hubs) just signed on over at strong.com and under that link where The Daily Plate shows up, when he is signed in, the forum part does show up, (The Daily Plate forum), but when I am signed in it says "this board has no forums"
It must be a work in progress. They're going to have to get all the bugs worked out probably.

I went back to re-read that email from STRONG, with my beta code on it. In BOLD letters, is this sentence: "And, it will soon be the new home of Calories Per Hour." To me that just doesn't sound like they plan on shutting this site down.......it sounds more like they will incorporate it into the STRONG site. I sure hope so.

I've noticed that Strong forums now takes you directly to The Daily Plate forums embedded within Strong, and same forum posts are simultaneously accessible at that URL and at TDP
I just hope they find a way of doing that for the CPH forums

I see what you mean, Nir - cool. And finally when I log in I don't get that silly 'there are no forums on this board' message from TDP. I can actually SEE the forums now. That's encouraging.

Nir,
Sorry to sound like a broken record, but I noticed my email does not include an access code and I don't see that I received a second email. Would you please PM a code? Thanks in advance.

Hello all -
Is there a way to get a beta invite code to strong.com? I have not been a member at the dailyplate or at CPH, just happened to stumble across this forum while doing some research on the strong.com beta.
thanks in advance

| Hey, I've done a little exploring on Strong today. I like that you have a friends group, that you can allow "in", so to speak. I've hesitated a bit with pics here, because anyone can view our diaries.........and once they join they can see everything. You have a bit more control on Strong. I would feel comfortable having pics on my profile, and other info, knowing I control who sees it.

Good points Hisgal - about having a bit of control. I'm slowly (very) figuring a few things out over there...such a newbie. One thing that I love however is TDP! Wow! I am actually thinking of consistently tracking my calories there. MyPlate is the first one I've ever tried that actually has the foods I eat listed! Their food list must be huge! I was just checking and even some off-brand frozen veggies I eat are on there...everything I've checked so far. Amazing. I've tried doing this at FitDay numerous times and always end up exasperated as they never had some of my specific foods and I always ended up with the task of 'customizing' each food...by then, I lost interest already.
At least we are trying to find some good points eh?

Just reporting that as of today I was able to log in as me (MollyMoo24) on strong and have joined the group over there.
Still haven't figured out yet how we are going to be able to replicate our community feel that we have here with the diaries and all. There is a blog section for each member and also a daily diary section but its not quite the same as what we have here. Will have to keep playing with it I guess. Or hopefully more info to come? Suggestions welcome. I have to keep my cow emoticon though.

I just got an email from them today regarding the 'public launching' of strong, and I was sooo scared to click on CPH thinking we might have disappeared...whew!
We encourage you to visit STRONG.COM and discover these new tools, plus nutrition and diet articles and videos, as it will be the new home of in the near future. Be on the lookout for more information about when this transition will take place.
Transition...yikes.

So I have heard a couple of short news stories about Luvestrong today. Apparently Lance Armstrong is begining to do publicity about it.
I know I said it before, but this thing is going to be a MONSTER.

Got the Daily Plate changeover email and managed to sign in this morning. Woo, I think? I had to reset my password though, I must have changed it to 'arrrrghhhh' in frustration when I couldn't use my name for beta!
Bit shy of it... the forums don't look as extensive as they are here. Gonna trawl through and see if I can find everyone there, if I fail, my username is Aimless still. :)
The site design is pretty nice, but it just feels massive... like we'll lose that small community type thing we have going on here.

Yeah, Mol, I noticed that! I was a bit shocked when I opened up my profile and saw my full name, etc. When I registered with that, I thought it would be available to administration only...........not to all who are on the site.
I do like that feature though..........I set mine to "friends only". I've often been tempted to post some pics here, but don't like the idea that anyone all over the world could see them. I might post a few over at Strong, in my profile. I like having a face to go with the names.........like Sassykat, Nir and others do. I just wasn't comfortable with it yet. But, I do it knowing only you guys could see them.

You mean you don't really look like your avatar kitty and I'm not really Scoobs???!!! Sorry, I've been on this computer way too long today. After reading your post, I went back and checked everything for 'friends only'. I was 'public' and then thought a bit differently. And yeah, it's cool to share pics, too!
Still can't read the forums over there.

I'm sorry...I wasn't very clear - D'oh! I meant to say I couldn't read the forums at strong/The Daily Plate....their discussion board. I got to see it once, and it looked interesting. I just would click on the word 'forum' and bam it was there...now it's not, again.
I forgot to add - did anyone see Lance Armstrong on Letterman last night? I caught just a snippet at the end and David was commenting that 'strong is live today'. Wonder if they talked much about it.

Unfortunately, I never received a code to access strong.com.
I've checked both my personal email account on Yahoo, as well as my private messages on CPH.
Does anyone know how to obtain a code for the site?

Ok, I feel really stupid - I'm not sure what that means Nir. Sorry!
The forums are there if I don't log in...and as soon as I do log in - it takes me back to my profile...then I click on 'forums' and get the no forums message. Am I doing something wrong or missing something? What is F5 or ctrl + F5 do?
I just noticed that if I go strictly to TDP itself, I can see the forums even after I log in there...and it will let me post also. Weird.Last edited on 19 Jun 2008 05:22 pm by Scoobees

Loved that comment about whether Hisgal does indeed look like a kitten
I was pretty devastated by that sudden realization. But now that I've seen her pics, she turns out to be a very beautiful woman!
P.S. I am actually STILL reading the forums...they're STILL there!!!

Thanks, Scoobs.............but did you see the "before pic" I added last night? And I wonder why I was surprised that people I hadn't seen for a few years, didn't recognize me anymore!
I'm not one to take compliments easily *blush-blush* and I certainly have NEVER thought of myself as beautiful! (although last summer, I did enjoy looking in the windows as I walked down the street-still couldn't believe it was ME! ) You made my day!
And Scoobs...........I don't know what your face looks like, but I know you are beautiful on the inside! And that's what counts!

Hisgal - I did see your 'before' pic! I sooo know what that feels like to have people not recognize you! Then the look on their face when it dawns on them who you are lol!
I also can't take compliments...I always add a 'but this' or 'but that' when anyone says anything remotely complimentary.
And if you're REALLY brave, I did add quite a few pics to my album last night; totally random stuff...but that's me - random.
Glad I could make your day! Now that makes me feel good, too!

Ok, I am so done. What am I doing wrong? If I sign in over at strong, I get the 'this board has no forums' message. If I go back, clear my cookies/history, etc I can see and read the forums...but if I sign in (in case for the odd reason I may actually want to make a post or a reply ) they're gone...same old no forums message. This happens to no one else?

Yes. What's really weird is that I actually see my username listed amongst the people online there. yeah, I was there alright...looking at the 'no forums'!
But, later on it did let me sign in and see the forums for a bit. I guess it's hit & miss for me - which is fine, I don't really feel the urge to participate further than my profile and logging foods in. It's the prospect of - in the event they do incorporate us/our diaries -having troubles in the future. Then I would really freak out.
Thanks for always trying to help Nir!

| Just want to say that I have been on strong, and I dont like it one bit...it's WAY too busy. CPH is so simple and user friendly and I just love it. I have been using CPH for YEARS...I hope strong takes some of the simplicity of CPH to heart, or I might have to change sites all together. I tried to find many of the same things that I use so much on CPH on the new strong, and I could not locate anything that I wanted, so my 2 cents is that I dont like it and I will really miss CPH.

Okay, so take it for granted that my menopause mind has taken over. What is a beta code for?
I already signed on to strong before I knew about this discussion. I couldn't use my name (now I know about TDP site which I've used but don't rember what my user name is there). Anyway, I took out the space after the b and was able to register.
Now what? Is there anything that is remotely like what is here? What happens to journals? I know mine is not long and I can cut and paste in into Word for my own use, but I've gone back to the start of other people's journals and have been motivated by their commitment etc.
I also want to thank Peter for his help, and support. While I've been out of the loop, I don't believe I would have joined Curves or made other positive choices without the support of the people on this site.
Feel free to talk to me like I don't know anything about computers, because right now that's how I feel. I'm sorry if you've explained this a million times already and I'm missing the answers but thanks for the help!

Hi. Beta codes were used to ensure that only CPH and TDP users could explore Strong from late May to mid June. The site is now open to everyone and the registration form does not ask for a beta code, so don't worry about it.
The issue of how the CPH community will be moved across into Strong is talked about in this post by Lex. In short, he'll let us know as and when the details have been worked out but we've been asked not to panic.
