Lately when i work out my legs barely burn anymore and i'm not out of breath.

I put the correct weight into the machine and it says i'm still burning the same amount of calories. But am i really? It doesn't feel like it anymore.

Should i increase the resistance? Is that the only way to continue losing weight? Or can i remain at this level for the same about of time and burn as many calories as i was when it felt harder?

Thanks,

The number of calories burned is based on energy expenditure. As your body adapts to your regular exercise you will be able to do it more easily expending less energy and burning fewer calories.

IF you want to continue to burn the same number of calories you will need to... well, read about the "comfort zone" here:

i've increased the resistance level at which i've been working and pushed myself harder and i did need to breath more deeply.

However, my legs seem to get tired (to a point where my legs start to buckle a bit) before i even become properly out of breath.

Do you know what this could mean? Is that supposed to happen? Am i exercising correctly?

No I don't know. Could be some physical problem... being careful here not to give medical or ANY advice. Please read disclaimer.

But it may just be that your legs are your "weakest link." Your respiratory system is in better shape, so your legs are showing exhaustion before you are breathing heavily.

Listen to your body. Even though you are not breathing heavy, if you legs feel tired back off then very slowly work up.

I just posted this story of my running my first marathon... the result of my increasing my exersize SLOWLY.
