We always need to dine out and it's hard to prevent...but how to choose food in a restaurant in a wise manner in order to prevent overweight or underweight? |

Most resturants have their nutrition information posted online. So if you know in advance where you are going?σΤιΌΤΗ£ you can pick and chose the most nutritious meal on the menu before hand. What I do is make myself little "tips" for the resturants I frequent. A sample tip list for McDonald's (if I HAD to go) would be: -Get the grilled chicken sandwich w/ no mayo -No fries & no pop -Get the fruit & walnut dish but don't eat the sugary yogurt It works for me! And now anytime I'm in a situation where someone else wants to go to a "bad" resturant I'm prepared to make the most healthiest choices out of the meals they offer. |

I do the same thing. I prepare my dining out ahead of time. If I can't get the nutritional information online, then I look at the menu. I pick a meal, find out the ingredients and calculate the calories. Then I make sure I have the budget in my daily calorie allowance. This way if my hubby wants to go out, I can too and I don't feel like I am putting him on a diet. |

Isn't anyone going to mention THIS website for on-line restaurant data? I spend many hours a day -- every day -- keeping it up-to-date. Peter |

LOL Peter! When I said online, I of course start here! I appreciate all your hard work on the nutritional information. I could not do this without you! :) |

A sample tip list for McDonald's (if I HAD to go) would be: Sorry, Corina, but I have to disagree with your assumptions about that being a healthy choice. (Healthier yes, healthy no). All over the Internet, you'll see statements to the effect that chicken is a very lean meat and therefore a healthy choice (except for the However, here in the UK, they showed a TV investigation into mass-produced chickens, which made for horrifying viewing (even for non-veggies). The birds are fattened so quickly that their young legs can't support their body weight, so they spend much of their time collapsed in their own urine and faeces. This produces the tell-tale ammonia-burn marks you can see on the hocks of most supermarket chickens. That's bad enough, but they then had the chicken meat analysed. When they rendered all the meat down in a lab and centrifuged it, they expelled 1 pint of fat from a single chicken! And guess which kind of chicken goes into your burger bar meals... free-range or mass-produced? Right first time! Just thought I'd let everyone know. All foods are not the same, and all chickens are not equal. NevD Last edited on 30 Oct 2005 01:51 pm by NevD |

ugh i hate it how people seem to see themselves worthy of taking animals and treating them horrid just to kill them and eat them in the end. i understand mass production and everything , but weCAN treat the animals good... give them a decent life while they are here before we butcher them. im veggitarian if you havent noticed.......... fly (dont but products that are tested on animals guys! :) ) |

"urine and feces crusted fat infused chicken breast" I'd get that trademark registered, Lori, before the burger chains beat you to it :D But it might need a snappier name. McCrusted? |
