Hi all,
I just came back from a weight loss clinic. The dr has put some tacks in my ear, given me b12 lipotropic shot, and a bottle of herbs called systempure to take for the first week (to detox). She wants to put me on a weight loss pill called "betahistamine". Has anyone here tried this and if so, does it work and what are the side effects. I told her I really didn't want to take any diet pills this time as I have had bad experiences in the past. Luckily she is an acupuncturist and totally supports that I want a natural approach.
Thanks for your feedback on this!
BTW - I have about 30 lbs to lose. I am 52yo and am having a heck of a time losing the weight.
Sincerely,
Celi

I work in the medical field and I can tell you a bit about betahistamine. It is only prescribed for chronic, severe vertigo and is no longer even available in the U.S. An acupuncturist certainly CANNOT legally give you prescription drugs, only an M.D. can and no doctor would give you such a risky medication, I hate to rain on your parade, but you better do your homewrok before taking any of that stuff, especially prescription meds for an acupuncturist...best of luck :)

Thanks so much for the wonderful advice Electrocute. I decided not to take the betahistine. But I am doing the b12/lipotropic shots, the herbal supplements, the acupuncture, and I feel great! I have lost 4 more lbs. I think the hypnotherapy cds must be working on my subconcsious because I am actually feeling so much better emotionally and in general.
I mentioned to the dr. about the fact that acupuncturists cannot dispense betahistamine. She uncomfortably informed me she actually doesn't write the prescription, an M.D. that she works with prescribes it. (I got the feeling she probably won't be using the betahistine again).
I have lost a lot of weight already - total of 10 lbs in about 2 and a half weeks - 20 to go.
Thanks again for the advice.
