Lately, HGH has gotten a horrible rep.  Fat of the matter, it's probably one of the best supplements on the planet at destroying fat and engorging your muscles.  I absolutely swear by it.

A year ago, I was close to 40 lbs overweight, but with a well-balanced nutritional change, and the use of all natural supplements i was able to shred up fairly quickly.

Yes, thats me and I'm absolutely committed to helping as many people as I possibly can to reach their fitness goals.

My starting point is that I'm skeptical of all supplements (with the exception of protein supplements, and I might be willing to give Creatine a go at some point). In what way do you think your progress would have been hampered if you had not used HGH this past year?

I note that none of the 'mainstream' guys (like Tom Venuto, Lyle McDonald, Jon Berardi etc.) have had anything positive to say about HGH.

Honestly, I saw my largest fat loss and muscle gain when I began to supplement with HGH.  Two weeks ago Sylvester Stallone came out in defense of HGH because of it's amazing results.  The bottom line is that each day, your body produces less and less of this hormone which has alot to do with how quickly we burn calories, fat, and build muscle.

I've seen some of these "mainstream" guys and I have to tell you, I honestly DON'T believe anything they say in regards to supplementation.  I mean take a good look at Tom Venuto.  This guy is insanely cut, and though he may not use any supplements NOW, I seriously doubt that he hasn't use other, growth related supplements in the past.

During my amazing transformation, I had the pleasure of meeting with alot of fitness models (including women) as well as, natural bodybuilders, and fitness nuts and EVERYONE of them used some type of aid, to achieve the extreme "rip" they achieved.

The "mainstream" gurus want to tell people what they need to tell them in order to make sales.  And while I agree that most of the "#%@&! supplements" on the market are just that, I absolutely swear by HGH.  I don't drink protein powder, and in my opinion Creatine is a waste of time as most of it is NOT absorbed by your muscles, it simply passes through your body.

I'd like to comment on Creatine.

I take two supplements. Well, the first is just a soy-based protein powder. I guess they call it a supplement because it's packaged that way and people take it to supplement their diet of grocery store food. But for me, it is food!

I eat very little meat, and so use soy protein powder mixed in with my morning OJ to be sure I'm getting enough protein since I work out six days a week.

I also take vitamins, which I understand would be totally unnecessary if I ate a perfectly healthy, well-balanced diet. But who does? So I take them for insurance.

That's the same logic I used to decide to take Creatine. It naturally comes from meat, and I eat very little meat. So I take it just to be sure I'm getting a normal amount, not to take a greater-than-normal amount to build big muscles. If I were eating more meat, I wouldn't take Creatine at all.

Good point, I also take a daily multi-vitamins-and-mineral (despite eating lots of fruits and veggies) and also a fish-oil capsule to cover myself for DHA / Omega 3

I get my Omega-3 in my tablespoon of ground flaxseed on my morning oatmeal.

P.S.

I have no idea what quantity is desirable nor what I'm getting. It just makes me feel like I'm doing a good thing!

P.P.S.

About building big muscles, I always like to remember the huge muscles gorillas have. And last time I looked, they don't eat any meat. Or take any supplements!

Oh my gosh, they build all those big muscles eating...  plants!

Alot of bad information running around...if you really want to know what steroids do to the body then you should go take a human physiology course so you can get the facts and understand the research.  Don't rely on just what you see in a picture or a mirror as it does not allow you to see what is going on inside your body.  It grows your muscles and damages your organs.  Pure and simple.  In moderate amounts in a very controlled environment we might be able to make it work one day to our satisfaction (with minimal side afffects) but for now it is not used properly or safely by many bodybuilders.  Do you really think anything that throws your body into high gear like that would be an acceptable thing for your system?  The data is long and well researched as to its abuse, but not as to its very specifically administered and controlled use by seniors and athletes.  They are just starting to scratch the surface here.  Athletes usually don't use very controlled amounts, but rather tend to over use the drugs to grow more rapidly.

As to Gorillas, as well as horses...and many animals, it takes 20 basic amino acids to create the basic building blocks of protein.  Humans can only create 11 and must get the rest from protein consumption and there are very few bioavailable essential proteins in most vegetables.  Gorillas on the other hand can manufacture all the essential amino acids they need.  Their bodies are able to take other amino acids abundant in their diet and restructure the molecules to form the remaining amino acids they require to build protein.  Humans can't do this trick, we apparently may have lost this ability many, many years ago in our evolution.

djbbiz,

Thanks for your post. That's a very interesting point you make about gorillas.

I knew that humans had to be very careful about getting all the required amino acids, but didn't know that about gorillas. It's an interesting footnote when using them as an example of gaining muscle without eating animal products.

I thought this article in the current issue of Newsweek magazine was interesting. At least it wasn't written by a biased source... someone selling HGH.
