Hello all.
I'm new to this particular diet but definitely not new to dieting, unfortunately. I'm 51, 5'5", and about 160. I would LOVE to be back at 140 again and you would think that 20 pounds shouldn't be that difficult to do to make myself unbelievably happy, but it's proven impossible. I have been battling the same 5-10 pounds for the last 10 years and just can't seem to get any further than that. Granted I have a lot of medical issues working against me (age, menopause, taking thyroid meds, reactive hypoglycemic) but I still keep trying. I am FINALLY starting to accept that I may never see 140 again and can almost be OK with that but I sure would like to see 150. I would THINK that should be attainable so I'm trying this new way of eating. I'm a big fan of low-carbing..... I've done it pretty much for a few years because, if nothing else, I FEEL so much better with low carbs. It keeps my blood sugar levels pretty stable and so many of my physical symptoms subside when I stick with low-carb so doing WL4I is pretty much like Atkins but with less fat and calories. A stricter form of Atkins, if you will.
Since I'm pretty familiar with the concept I may make some substitutions (protein for protein, carb for carb) but I won't stray too much. My second day (fruit day) was HORRIBLE. Not only was I STARVING all day but I was dizzy and jittery and shaky. That was way too much blood-sugar spike and drop all day. Thank God for the sandwich in the middle to break it up a little.
I wish us all luck - no one can say we don't at least try!
