Well, my New Years Resolution was to go on a diet and lose some weight, and less than a week in, I caved. I'm not that fat, just pretty 'chubby' I suppose you could say.

About 2 and a half years ago, I lost about a stone and got to my lightest and thinnest ever. I got compliments from family members and people who I hadn't seen in a while, it felt great. Since then, I've put it all back on, and more.

I know I won't be as thin as a lot of people, mainly because I have a big build and know there's a certain point I won't get passed. But I just booked a holiday with a group of lads from school in June, and am setting out to get to my thinnest, and healthiest yet.

The one problem I have, is that when I'm eating, such as earlier for dinner, I couldn't tell whenever I was full, and often find myself eating out of shere boredom, not in the least bit hungry. I also will go from Monday to Friday without touching or looking near a single piece of junk food, whenever I'm on a 'diet', and then come Friday I'm as bad as ever.

I'm going to challenge myself this time, to see if I actually can reach my goal so that I can look and feel great on my holiday. I want to be able to go out and get noticed by girls, as that never happens on a night out, which often leaves me pretty annoyed or '#%@&! off'.

How can I overcome my constant want of food, and be able to tell myself "No, I'm full, I don't need anything more."? I also keep telling myself that I need to do more exercise, but dragging myself out of bed an hour and a half early on a miserable Winter morning is hard to do, and I also don't like exercising in front of people in a gym etc. How can I get better motivated to keep going with my diet and exercise?

Is about 1-2 stone in about 2-3 months a realistic target? That would be my ideal weight. I'm pretty short at 5"3, and weigh about 10 and a half stone.

Thanks for looking.

Hello and welcome to the forums!

The general guideline is a pound or two a week, so that would be a stone in 7 weeks. Be sure to read the Tutorial, link above.

About your going on and off your diet, I'd suggest that you keep a journal to learn a little more about the cause of this. Read The Value of Keeping a Food Journal.

Also please be sure to read the Forums Business section to learn more about using the forums. Then you can post specific questions in the appropriate forums.

Welcome!

Hi! Welcome to CPH!!

I know exactly what you mean about not knowing when to stop. I do it especially on nights when we order pizza (just one more slice,...it's so good...there still some left, why not eat it? {duh, because then I literally feel sick later})

We make ourselves miserable don't we?

Maybe try eating slowly, and focusing on what you are eating, not just eating mindlessly. People say put your fork down between each bite...I haven't tried that, but I'm sure it does help.

I hope you find what you need on this site, and reach all your goals!!

Good advice in the posts above.

Try also drinking some water before you eat. Warms up the digestive process and helps to feel fuller sooner. Like CG suggested, chew slowly.

Also, do yourself a favour and think in terms of 'leaner', not 'thinner'. The former is healthier.
