Can someone please tell me about Crystal Light, our suppliers of Kraft Foods don't import Crystal Light. Is it just cordial, or is it healthier? Does it have artifical sweetener?
Cheers,
Amy

| Not sure if there is a specific reason why Crystal Light is not imported where you are. But yes, it is sweetened with artificial sweetener (NutraSweet I think). If I'm not mistaken it mainly relies on artificial flavorings as well.

| Thanks. I wondered if that was the case.

Hey Oreo, I'm in Auckland too! The best drink flavouring I use is the baker and Halls lite. It has about 9 cals a glass I think and tastes just the same as regular cordial.

Small world!
Do you know if the Barker & Hall's lite has artificial sweetener? I'm really looking for something with natural sweetening that isn't loaded with calories...maybe I'll have to settle for a slice of lemon in my water!

Yep it does the sweetner used is sucralose which is what "Splenda" sweetener is.
I'm converting myself to a pure water drinker. I used to be a sugar-free red bull addict but I was getting really bad phenylanine (spelling!) headaches, some people get that if they chew too much sugar free gum. Worst thing is phenylanine gives you carb cravings so it's really counter productive!! Now i'm off topic.
I'm not sure if we have any low cal drinks without artifictial sweetners-besides your suggestion of water and lemon!

Hello there,
Yes, I think these artificial sweetners can cause more than headaches depending on how your body reacts to them. Have you seen a film on You Tube called "Sweet Misery" - very enlightening!
Two natural low-cal sweetners that I know of and are said to be safe (but surely everything that's not taken in moderation has side effects): stevia and xylitol.
Hi-cal sweetners that could be healthy are molasses for it's minerals and raw organic honey for its antimicrobial properties.

My dentist says that water and lemon is one of the worst things for your teeth. The acid will damage your teeth as will gatorade and other post workout drinks. It's ok if you down it in one go but if you are sipping it throughout the day your teeth will pay the price. It's not pretty! They had a pamphlet at the office with photos of the damage highly acidic drinks can cause. I sometimes drink hot water just to mix it up a bit! Very exciting...

| Guess one could say that the healthiest, lowest cal, greatest post-workout drink is good old plain water. Why doesn't anyone enjoy it anymore? I love it!

I always drink water post-workout. It's just good to have something else to drink occasionally that has a bit of flavour and isn't unhealthy.
