where to start...
well im megan :) im 23 and am happily married with two little girls (1 and 2 years old). stay at home mom. husband works 10 hours a day (4 days a week) but is gone 11-12, depending on traffic, so sometimes i feel like a single mommy lol
ive had problems with my weight since i was about 13 i guess...tried lots of different diets, tried being hypnotized, for a while in high school i just didnt eat. everything would work for a while and then id slack in one area and itd snowball from there. though i was always good with going to the gym, when i had my membership..i love exercising.
when i met my husband i was around 220..i moved from my home state in within 2 years i gained about 40 pounds. when i got pregnant the first time i went up to about 280 while pregnant and then back down to 260 within a month after giving birth. slowly gained another 10 pounds..got pregnant again fairly soon and went up to 290 while pregnant. while breastfeeding baby #2 i got down to about 260 again, but as soon as i stopped the weight came back.
im to the point where i dont just need to lose the weight for me...i need to lose it for my kids. i dont want to be the fat mom that theyre ashamed of..i want to be able to run around with them and be an active family.
part of my problem lately has been that i only feel i have time (and money) for one meal a day, and it was usually dinner. for the past month or so ive been doing the nutrisystem thing...(friend ordered it, didnt like it..gave me 2 months worth of food for free) and ive lost about 20 pounds, even with the holidays. i dont want to do it forever (who can really afford that?!), i just figured it would be a good way to get used to normal portion sizes, and eating every meal and some snacks. my only worry is that when the nutrisystem is gone, we still wont be able to afford enough healthy food for all 4 of us.
ive been trying to exercise more too...but with the kids its hard. i can pretty much only do indoor- type stuff while theyre napping. ive decided to start waking up a few hours before them, and do some kind of exercise then as well as during naptime. the only thing is i also want to be able to get outside and walk/jumprope/etc...and i can only do that on the days hubby doesnt work (sunday monday tuesday). i thought about going out in the morning and walking before the kids wake up and while hubby is still home...but havent decided yet.
but im commited to doing SOMEthing..im sick of being fat.
i didnt really mean to post my whole life story..it just all kind of came out :/

~Hi Megan and Welcome~
Posting your whole life story is a good thing. That's how we find about our members.
So you are doing the Nutrisystem thing. I have been looking at the for sometime. You said you lost 20lbs. Good for you. I think it is costly. It's a shame to stay healthy or to get healthier, you have to pay for it.
I'm trying to get back into my exercise routine. My weekly schedule was aerobics 6-7am Monday-Friday with Denise Austin. Mon., Wed. & Fri., weight training (home gym) and uncumbant biking Tue., Thur, and Sat. It's very hard to get it back when I haven't done it for 2 years.
Have you signed up for the New Year, New You Challenge? I believe there are over 80 members signed up. I'm one of them. If you haven't, maybe check it out.

i though about trying nutrisystem too before my friend gave it to me..but theres just no way i could feed my whole family if i was spending $300 a month on food JUST for me...its rediculous.
i havent signed up for the challenge yet...but i will look into it :)
thanks for the reply!Last edited on 5 Jan 2008 06:13 pm by babyy

Megan,
At this time I can't afford that kind of money but I would like to try it in the future to see how it works for me.
I encourage you to checkout the challenge. It's made a difference for a lot of people.
Take Care
