Chicken Tikki Masala
serves 4 282 calories 32g protein 22g carbs 4g fibre 8g fat
- 2" cube of ginger
- 6-8 cloves garlic
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp red chili powder (or to taste) not con carne style, actual hot stuff substitute cayenne
- 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup canned crushed tomatoes
- 2 green chilies (serano or jalapeno)
- 1 cup whole plum tomatoes
- 1 bunch cilantro chopped
- 1 TBsp Vegeatable oil
- 1 medium onion finely chopped
- 1 tsp meat masala (recipe below)
- 1 tsp ground turmeric
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup low fat yogurt
In blender puree ginger ad garlic with a little water to thick paste
to make marinade mix 2 tbsp of garlic ginger with salt and chili powder.Cut chicken in bite size pieces and toss with marinade for 20-30 minutes or of course longer
In food processor finely chop crushed tomatoes and green chilies, add plum tomatoes and cilantro mixing quickly to leave tomatoes chunky
heat oil or pam in non stick skillet and sear chicken, set aside, add onion and cook until golden add ginger garlic mix and cook for two minutes. add meat masala, turmeric salt and tomatoe mixture stir in yogurt, cook ten minutes stirring then add chicken and cook until chicken is tender.
Meat Masala
buy in grocer or as below
6 tbsp coriander seeds
3 tbsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp carom seeds (optional)
1/4 star anise (2-3 sections)
3" cinnamon stick
4 cloves
3 cardamom pods
4-5 bay leaves
1 1/2 tsp dried cilantro
1/2 tsp mace
1 1/2 tsp turneric
1 1/2 tsp red chili powder
Heat a non-stick skillet over low heat add whole spices and toast
let toasted spices cool and then grind in coffee grinder or blender.

OH! Thank you so much! I haven't tried this recipe yet but I will! I love chicken tikka masala but avoid it because of the high calories in the gravy, awesome
