So...I just learned that my office will be running a "Biggest Winner" competition, similar to the "Biggest Loser." They're basing this off body fat percentages, though, not weight. Of course this is troublesome for me because I'm losing weight, but the body fat percentage is just taking its sweet time!
I'm thinking of keeping carbs low, protein high, cardio 2x a day (30 min each) and increasing the strength training (3x a week with higher reps; trainer suggested 15-20 to exhaustion). Does this sound reasonable? Also, how does one count protein grams???
Thanks!
P.S. - Nir, your advice was so helpful on my previous posts. I brought my calories back to no less than 1,700 a day and the scale is beginning to move again. I've dropped 1.5 pounds since Friday. THANK YOU!!!

Yes, Nir's the best!
Be sure to tell your office that they can use this forum for their challenge!

The "higher reps for fat loss" is controversial, many think it is bunk. For instance Tom V in BFFM says: best weight training for fat loss is 8-12 reps (i.e. what it will take to build muscle, which is what you want in order to lose fat more effectively). That's not to say you will not succeed your way...
If you use a computer to count your calories (e.g. using the Food Calories & Nutrition Calculator) it also counts your grams of protein.

That statement made me do a double-take! How are you measuring your body fat? And what do you think it is you're losing instead?

The trainer uses a handheld thing that sends electrical signals and calculates the fat based on how long they take to come back to it. Not the most precise (I know the calipers would be), but still a fairly close guess. I've lost 28 pounds and only 2% body fat. The trainer and I are both scratching our heads.
I don't know what the heck I lost....brain matter, presumably. ;)

Sounds like your trainer needs to get his gizmo recalibrated (or perhaps read the instructions again...)
