Hi everyone,

I started my diet on July 1st 2007. I weighed in at 265lbs :nono: I am 36 years old and 5'7

I have lost 10lbs so far. I am doing a simple low fat (not too low though) diet, hanging around the 1500 calorie mark. Kinda like a 50/30/20 diet meaning 50% of my calories come from complex carbs, 30% from protein and 20% from fat (watching carefully my satuarated fats/trans fat carefully).

Exercise...well I am a bit of a procrastinator :yum: but currently I am walking 4 days a week and just started strength training using dumbells and resistance bands.

My biggest downfall was soda..which I have, as of 07/01/07 completely cut out of my diet. I now drink alot of H2o and when the attack for bubbles comes, I drink Perrier Water with lime or lemon.

I also started an online journal to keep track of my everyday progress. Your more than welcome to check it out at Fluff n Stuff, My Weightloss Journey ( journals.aol.com/edxlisa/fluffnstuff/ )

Look forward to meeting you all...

Hi Fluff etc. -

I'll add my congratulations to all the others, including congrats on finding CPH, the best and friendliest website of its kind.

On reading your first post, I thought 'Wow - right on the nail' about your approach.

Then, I read the figure for your calorie intake. Which looks set to take you into a weitht loss plateau.  (Not inevitable, but statistically likely).

Reason? Too low for your body weight.  The trick is to get the calories right for your weight now, and adjust them down as you lose.  Using your details posted, I calculated you should be eating something like 2275 calories per day, assuming a 'medium intensity' for exercise.

Use the calorie calculators on this site to check.  But even a rule of thumb suggests that 9 x 265 = 2385 calories (that's allowing only 9 calories per pound).

Please don't fall into the trap of trying to 'do it' too quickly. That way lies disappointment.

Good luck.
