Do you think it's possible for me to have a cal deficit of 850 a day (I understand it's possible but I'm not going to the gym an hour and a half everyday)? I'd be working out doing random things for about an hour a day and daily activities would burn a few extra. I did the math and used the calculators on here but I'm just curious to get your feedback on what you really think. Am I setting my number too high or is it feasible? I'm 5'7" and 175 pounds. I want to get down to 130. I'm a stay at home wife and I take care of a 80 pound Rottweiler and 220 pounds husband. Currently I'm living in Japan and I'm visiting home in about 6.5 MONTHS (not weeks. oops.). I wanted to get down to at least the 130s by then, so about 40 pounds. Am I again setting my number too high?

(Female, 21, 5'7", 157lb) => unadjusted RMR is 1591. This is the minimum number of calories you should eat every day, to avoid loss of muscle and a slowed metabolism.

If you were sedentary, your maintenance calories would be around 1909 and the daily deficit would be 318.

You're planning to be more active than that, so perhaps your maintenance is between Lightly Active (2188) and Moderately Active (2466). So if you keep your calories at unadjusted RMR level you may be able to create a larger deficit through activity.

However please be aware that current thinking is that the optimum calorie deficit for fat loss is 15% to 20% of your maintenance calories - so it would be advisable to increase calories to make sure your deficit is not too large, see What It Takes to Lose It All.
