just wondering..
i have been doing an hour of cardio (light walking on treadmill) and then as much of the stabilizer machines as i can squeeze in. bu that hasnt seemed to wokr on me too well.
so now my NEW ROUTINE IS. i go three times a week.
so every mon/wed/fri i do one hour of cardio
but monday i do: triceps, chest , abs
wednesday i do: biceps,back, forearms
friday- legs, butt
this is weird because its actually my bfs' workout schedule. and hes not fat just thick, and tryin to convert more to muscle. but he saw results within a month, and im so jealous. is this a bad routine for a girL?
i just need to slim it al down. my arms have always been on the chubby side ven when my stomach was flat, so now they r disgusting.
also, im just going to do about 30 reps of 5-15 pounds on these machines.

| I usually do cardio and jog and when I really feel tired, I walk(on the treadmill, of course).

| Lifting weights is beautiful for us girls. When you are doing low weights at high reps (25-30) you are not build big thick muscles but rather are turning the fat into muscles. More muscle means you burn more calories on your body everyday. With doing weights and cardio combined you will see awesome results.

| I agree with Ella Luka. You're not going to want to be doing a few reps of really heavy weights, rather a lot of reps of light weights. 1 hr. of cardio is great too. Since your arms are what you have the biggest problem with, maybe you can do cardio while holding 5 lb. dumbels and moving your arms back and forth or something. As for your question what do I do at the gym... I get too bored doing cardio on the machines... so I'll usually only do about 15-20 minutes walking at 4-4.5 mph on a 10 incline. Then I go over to the mats and do abs with medicine balls (since my stomach is what I have my problems with) then I go play volleyball. Volleyball is great for toning all your muscles, burning calories, and it's actually really good cardio.

| I changed gyms a month ago and so far every one of my workouts is a class of some kind. Tonight I have a Body Step class (cardio) and then a Body Pump class (muscular endurance: low weights, high reps).

I workout with weights six days a week. Day one is triceps and chest: day two biceps and back; and day three shoulders. Actually I do day three at home with dumbbells. Then I repeat the sequence.
I messed up my knees running so I walk on a 25% incline on a treadmill at least three days a week for at least 30 minutes.
My pic's from 1999, but I'm about the same... just older.

Firstly, you need to get your own program - tailored to what you what to achieve, so if its not working, go back and get it changed.
I usually do half an hour cardio - 20 mins cross trainer and 10-15 on rower or 30 mins running, then weights (mainly machines, cable rows, lat pull downs, step ups medicine ball squats) in 2 super sets, so I am really sweating! Then I do abs and core work - the ALWAYS, I do stretches. Takes about 1 hour 20 all up.
Since I started going 4 times a week, I've noticed a big improvement. Even more of an improvement since I started running twice a week - that is run.walk 3mins run/1min walk for 50-60 mins

I couldn't answer the poll because I do a huge variety of activities at the gym. I do a boot camp class that is the most high intensity hour of exercise I've ever done in my life (a zillion different types of push-ups, plyometrics, tabatas, etc.), one day of heavy weights (high weight, low reps), one day swim, one day "power" class (barbell class with many reps), and one day I run around the basketball court dribbling, play wall ball with medicine balls, and jumping rope. Weekends, we ride our bicycles outdoors or hike. I love variety, and I love intensity (which I can only get when I'm in a group environment--I can't seem to push myself to the limit alone!).

Wow, Peter you look fantastic!
I work out at the gym and always take classes unless I have time to spare waiting for a class to start - I then use a machine rather than just standing around. I take kickboxing, hip hop, step, weight lifting, cycling, zumba, yoga, pilates, etc. I also go to about 4 different club locations seeking out the best instructors and the class I like the most - which is step. I might join a second fitness center when our new community center opens up at the end of the month, then I will have access to water aerobics and other classes that I don't get at my current fitness center.
If anyone hasn't tried it - take a class and you won't even feel like you're exercising especially if it is a dance type class.
