could anyone out there enlighten me if cod is a fatty or lean fish? it's been said that cod is lean white fish that is low in fat and calories, but when cooked lots of oil seeps out and it's very oily indeed..
I'm feeling so regretful now, as like any other days, for eating huge portions of food during dinner just now..
I had approximate 8 inched plate FULL of stir fried broccoli and #%@&!ake mushrooms (and i mean they pile up to a HILL), steamed cod fish one and a half the size of a female's HAND and one and a half inches thick. I'm really worried my daily diet like this will jeopardise my weight maintenance plan..please anyone could offer me advice on this? thank you so much..

Playing with the food calculator on this website, I get:
Fish, Cod, Atlantic, cooked with dry heat
3 oz=85 g
Calories=89.3 Protein=19.4 Fat=0.7 Carbs=0.0 Fiber=0.0 Sodium=66.3
% of Calories: Protein=92% Fat=8% Carbs=0%
I have also cross-checked with a book I have, and the figures are very similiar there too.
So despite appearances, cod is quite lean, with just 8% of total calories coming from fat, the rest from protein.
The only improvement I can suggest, for yore peace of mind, is to obtain some food scales so you can weigh your fish and know how many calories you're consuming - a bit more accurate than visual portion estimation.

| I still feel insecure..will it be possible to get a picture of cod? As far as i know, there are various kinds of cod..like black cod, silver cod, etc, all of which differ in nutritional content. I want to have a better idea which type i've actually been feeding on.

When cooked, the inside should be white.
