"hey hey hey!" YUP.. still here.
Operation "Let's figure out how the heck this body bugg thing works" is fixin' to start. I'm a total tard when it comes to technology and computers. It took me 30 minutes this afternoon to find the durn USB port thingy on the arm part.
This should be interesting. I'm supposed to go online and register n stuff so here goes nuttin'

I just created a new journal on this site specifically about the Body Bugg. Thought I would put in my daily/or almost daily thought about using this seemingly useful tool.
Here is what I posted today:
My name is Tracy Willoughby. I am 40 years old and weigh approx 260 lbs. I am the proud 'carrier' of the lap band which has helped me slowly lose 110 lbs.
I hate to exercise and calculate calories. I've been hearing about the body bugg through the Biggest Loser for a couple of years now and have been wanting one. Finally this year, for my 40th birthday I decided it was the perfect birthday gift to help get me over the weight hump.
I got my bugg in the mail today. I am a tech tard so I was kind of concerned that I would have trouble setting it up. So far the only thing I had trouble with was figuring out where the USB port thing was located. Took me about 30 minutes to find it but I prevailed (YUP... like a monkey playing with a greased football.. )
I will start using my band/watch tomorrow. I want to be at 199 by 1/31/2011 and according to my bugg, that means 1.25 lbs lost per week. That equals a 650 calorie deficit per day. (I must burn 650 MORE calories than I consume)
I am also the new owner of the Health Master and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. It's an easy way to get in my allotment of fruits & veggies.
Basic info on the Bugg and what it does:
The revolutionary new bodybugg makes it easy to manage the calories you consume and burn so you always stay in control of your weight. Get started with a personal phone coach. Then manage your results daily on our user-friendly web based program.
The bodybugg armband achieved average accuracy rates of 90% in studies comparing calorie expenditure measurements from the bodybugg device to calorie expenditure measurements in a metabolic chamber (the "gold standard" of calorie expenditure measurement)*.
motion/steps: The armband contains an accelerometer. The accelerometer measures motion. It measures how you move from multiple perspectives to give a fuller ungderstanding of movement. Steps are counted using the accelerometer to measure the distinct patterns created by running or walking.
galvanic skin response: When you sweat, your skin becomes more electrically conductive. This measurement helps the device understand how active you are.
skin temperature: There's an electronic thermometer inside your armband that helps you know how hot you are.
heat flux: When you move, your muscles produce heat. You measure the heat that's flowing from your body into the environment.
it's easy - monitor how much you exercise, manage how many calories you eat, then track if you are burning more calories that you are consuming
it's flexible - eat what you want, when you want, workout on your own terms
it's customized - your program is based on your age, weight, height and personal goals
start with a 45 minute session with your personal phone coach
view your progress with a 6 month subscription to the web based nutrition program, included with the initial purchase of the new bodybugg.

GAH Day 1 with bugg on arm.
I am so stinking frustrated right now. I cannot get the dingin' digital watch to sync with the bleepin' arm band and I'm following the instructions to a tee.
I wonder if you burn extra calories for being extremely irritated???
WHOHOOHOOOO! I am sync'd! It would seem the magic tric for syncing requires doing while on the toilet.....

so there's def. a learning curve with this thing. I sync'd up no problem this a.m. last night what was frustrating was on the website where you enter your food, it won't let you edit anything once you've put it in. The took the website down for a few hours last night for maintenance so i"m hoping that's part of it.
For instance.. I don't like to take vitimins or eat a lot of fruit and veggies. I don't have a lot of room so I'm supposed to reserve that space for protein/fiber. I use my healthmaster to get in my daily allotments of fruits and veggies.
Yesterday I made my drink (which makes to large shaker things full so it takes me all day to get through it and sometimes I only get through one). I didn't drink the entire thing.. only half, however, I couldn't go in and edit what I had put in so it showed me over in calories there.
THEN I was entering in my "lupper" We took my hubby's granny out to lunch so I had a small salad and evil serving of mac n cheese and a serving a mashed potato's (BAD BAD BAD I know) so I come home to enter them and from what I could tell it wasn't taking because my calorie intake wasn't changing so I entered it THREE seperate times. It took alright.. ALL THREE times and it wouldn't let me go back and edit anything. Grrr.
I'm supposed to get a 45 minute coaching session over the phone and I hope I'll be able to ask about this.
I took over 5,100 steps and was logged as moderatly active. I burned over 2,000 calories but I don't recall the exact number. This is going to be a really useful tool if/when I can figure out how to use it correctly.

so. I went to my 1st hypno session last night. The 1st of 5. I've been having conversation with myself all week about WHAT to tell him.. how much to divulge. My goal originally was to only go for exercise motivation. One session. The end.
The more I thought about it and read his testimonials, I was like, why cheat myself? Why not change my way of thinking about more than just exercise?
I am a food addict. I love food. I love to eat it, bake it, grill it, fry it, nibble it, drink it, look at it, smell it and touch it. it's beautiful and it brings out a happy response when I'm around it, yet it rules my life. How can something that causes so much pleasure also bring about so much damage?
I actually didn't want to come clean with him because in my head, I thought it could possibly mean I would lose my desire for something I love so much. This I realize is the crazed thinking of someone with an addiction.
I really don't know where I?óÔé¼Ôäód be if I hadn't made the decision to have lap band surgery. It's one of the best decisions I've ever made and I believe it got me on the road to saving my life. I can't even imagine EVER going back to weighing 350+. I really don't know how I got up and lived my life from day today.
But know I find myself not only stuck in the mid 250's but stuck here for the last 2 years. It's not good enough to 'not weigh over 300. I'm still not as healthy as I could be and people that don't know me still judge me by my size.
He wanted to know WHY I wanted to get under 200. WHAT is your goal. And besides saying I wanted to be healthy, I couldn?óÔé¼Ôäót come up with an immediate response. "WHY do you want to be healthy?" "OH, uh so I can do #%@&!".. I said. "like what"? "I want to travel and hike/bike/canoe/ski/run & walk my #%@&! off and be outside and have fun doing it. I want to see beautiful awesome sites that you only get to see if you hike to it. I want to be an inspiration to others and make others feel good and say.. if she can well surely I can"
I then fessed up about the date rape situation in brief. This of course set's off alarm bells about armor. Honestly, one of the reasons I'm stuck in this weight range is because I'm still considered fat. Fat allegedly = relative safety. I was also, like most of us, raised to believe that to put yourself 1st is selfish. God/church members, duties, job, family then if you have anything left.. yourself. I haven't told him about the almost successful suicide attempt at 13. I guess I'll fess up for that on Monday.
I now have the chance to heal myself/my brain. part of my homework is this, that I am writing now. Easy. The hard homework assignment is having to look myself in the mirror and tell myself "I Love you" until I mean it. I am not ready for this assignment and don't know that I will ever be.
I know I'm a good person down to the core and have a lot to offer but still, to TRULY be IN LOVE with me. That's going to be hard even though on some level I know I deserve it.
We talked for an hour then did the 'talk to my sub conscious' for 30 minutes. It's hard to explain how I feel. I feel different but can't put my finger on it. I'm not ripping and roaring and ready to go attack the treadmill, in fact, I'd rather take a baseball bat to it. I can say that when I got home last night I blew the dust off of the Wii fit. stepped back on and played around for a bit.
I wanted to get up early this a.m. and work out before work. didn't happen but I do plan on working out when I get home today.
He seemed pretty happy with my food choices. We just have to rewire the brain. yay. Here we go....

With my body bugg I hadn't been logging my calories because I was frustrated with the body bugg site (not their fault.. I just hadn't taken the time to play with it). The frustration was entering my food. I make a lot of my own stuff (like 2% yogurt for instance) and fruit drinks and of course I coudln't really find anything that was comparable. I knew there was a place to enter all the nutrition info for custom stuff but couldn't remember where. I also knew there was a place to edit each meal/snack but couldn't remember where. I was determined yesterday to play around and find them and I did so I'm back to logging what I eat. This time instead if logging at the end of the day I do it as I go (unless it's a fruit veggie thing) I do that at the end of the day. My calories burned daily averages about 2,300. Sometimes it goes up to 2,600 or more and a few times less so a good solid average is 2,300. I almost burned 3,000 the other day.. that was AWESOME but I wasn't logging what I ate so there's no telling how much I consumed. I eat more when I don't log it.
ANYwho. Now that I've figured this out maybe I can start reaching my calorie deficit goal of 650 per day. I need to burn 650 MORE calories than I eat in order to lose 1.5 lbs per week (I think.. I may be off on the pounds).
That is what is SO COOL about my bugg. I'm not neccessarialy married to a certain amount of calories per day. Throughout the day I KNOW where I am at for calories burned so If I eat more than I should I know I can make it up by walking more(or sometype of calorie burning exercise). It totally puts the remote in my hands.

I've been getting in almost 11thousand steps per day lately. The nicer weather helps!
I have dedided I need to 'change' or implement 5 things
1. I will now walk to the mailbox instead of driving by it (unless it's raining)
2. I will do 15 minutes of some type of activity (walking, yoga etc) before 8 a.m. during the week
3. I will not eat 2 hours prior to going to bed. Should = out to around 6:30
4. 5 days per week I will walk 10K + steps per day
5. I will look at myself at least once a day and tell myself "I love you and you are worthy"
When I get these nailed down I'll add one more, then another, then another.

So. Went to Morton yesterday. Didn?óÔé¼Ôäót realize that it had been September and that was to have some saline taken out. In September, he took my saline down from 3.6 to 3.2. After that I lost saline down to 2.9-3.
He put me back up to 3.2 saline yesterday. I was horrified to discover that since September I had gained 25 lbs. (possibly 30.. I?óÔé¼Ôäóve been walking like crazy & probably shed a few before yesterday). So basically I was almost wide open through the holidays/bday & such.
Just a remind, all these numbers and talking about saline is what makes the band work. I have a band that holds 4 cc's of saline to control the size of the stoma/opening at near the top of my stomach which controls how full I feel. I was still slightly restricted but no where near where I needed to be. The reason I had saline taken out in September was because I had been on steroids which caused me to swell slightly internally and my stoma was to small causing me to spit up at night.
I go back in 2 months and expect him to saline me up to 3.4 or 5.
I brought in my print outs from my body bugg site so he could what I was eating and what my activity level was like.
He was thrilled with my activity level and said that my calorie intake was fine, HOWEVER, I needed to switch out some of the carbs for Protein. I am suppoed to eat my protein 1st, then I won't have any room, or not much room for any carbs and I'll stay fuller longer.
Protein protein protein!
later.

Chlorine in my Nose Hairs...
So, my day started not so bright n early at 4 a.m. I have joined the YMCA again but this time I have an associational membership which gives me access to all the ones in my network. That just so happens to mean all of Nashville, Smyrna AND Scottsville.
I am mainly interested in the water aerobics so a pool was required. I will probably be using a combination of Scottsville, Smyrna and the one on Harding Place. Figuring out the schedule is going to be the tricky part.
So last night I'm prepping all my stuff. I get my little bag ready, rescue my special tie dye towel out of Todd's Yoga bag and set out my stuff to get dressed in the a.m.
I drag myself out of bed slightly before 4, manage to leave the house about 4:20. There's NO traffic so I get to the Y on Harding about 5:35. I?óÔé¼Ôäóm early for class so I figured I'd do a round on all the circuit machines (at this point forgetting that I'd be doing the same thing in the water class... next time I'll just walk).
I get ready for class and go in. It's been about 4 years since I have done this so I forgot stuff.. like shoes. Water Aerobics can be a challenge barefoot. I was slippin' and slidin' all over the place. About 10 minutes into it I was remembering what an actual workout it was. YES, you CAN sweat in the pool. After 50 minutes of water boarding..er.. I mean torture..uh..working out.. yes that's it... I crawled out of the pool, gazed longingly at the hot tub thingy and drug my now cold a$$ into the shower room. Had a decent shower but then remembered I needed a scrubby thing and my brush. This is VERY important as I am now, sitting here at work, and my upper back is ITCHING. DRAT. Gotta get all the chlorine scrubbed off.
I'm done with my shower and I reach for my special towel. This is great until about 30 seconds in to drying off I realize that our precious little furkids must have been sleeping INSIDE Todd's freakin' yoga bag and I am now COVERED in cat hair. Well I HAD to put on lotion which as you can imagine.. just exacerbated the situation. Yeesh. So I?óÔé¼Ôäóm at work now, I'm kind of sleepy but weirdly awake at the same time, my back itches and I smell like a combo of chlorine and vanilla. TGIF!
It is 12:53 and I have smoked over 1,800 calories so far today. yay me

Excellence. I have lost 5lbs so far. I have been trapped in the 260's for a year an a half now (steroids are evil) and I'm 1 lb from busting the #%@&! out of them! HOORAH. All this pain and fatigue is not for nothing. =0)
It makes it worth haveing to get up even EARLIER than I was already. I'm still working on getting some type of schedule worked out between the 3 Y's... but for the moment, I can depend on having access to water aerobics every a.m. at the harding location so I can pick n choose what mornings I do this.
There is supposed to be a Zumba class on Monday's Thursday's and Sat (can't do the saturday one until I'm done with vending season.) so I'm hoping I"ll be able to go to that later.
With the help of my body bugg I'm starting to track what I put in my mouth again so that helps too. Friday I smoked 3,439 calories, Saturday 2,845 and Yesterday my rest/off day almost 2,300. I was going to go to the Y on Sunday to trot around in the pool but I just needed some time to do NOTHING. So, that's what I did.

I burned 2896 calories, consumed 1694 calories for a deficit of 1204 on 10/04.
So I took the Zumba class tonight.
O.M.G. 1hour of Zumba, 33.8 ounces of Smart water, totally soaked head shirt & towel. Can someone please come to Kentucky to bury me? I.might.die. gasp
I bet I'll be feeling this tomorrow. I've gotta get shaped up and some balance back for my nephew's skating party on Sunday. Hopefully I won't be so out of shape by then.. however, I must say. I was by far the largest person in the Zumba class and had WAY better rythym and stamina than the other women in the class. Kudos for me. Good lord you should have seen some of those white woman stompin' around in there wearing their sketcher clunky shoes. It made me feel better by being the largestin in the class by about 80 lbs easy. I'm proud of all of us though, for sticking it out.
Will I get up in the a.m. for water aerobics. probably not, however I'll walk tomorrow. I can't kill myself every day.

Measurements today. I'll take them every two weeks. I had my flu shot this a.m. so I'm taking it easy today. I've done 6,834 steps so far and it's 11:30. My goal is 12,000 steps per day so even though I didn't do water aerobics or another workout class, I think I'll do fine just getting in my steps.
these measurements were taken over my clothes so that is what I'll do each measurement time so it will be consistant.
Neck 15.5
Chest 50.5
Upper Arm 16.5
Forearm 11.5
Waist 42.5
Hip 53
Thigh 28.5
Calf 18.5

I have started tracking my measurements with the help of Kitty. I?óÔé¼Ôäóll measure every two weeks.
My short term goal is to be back down to 240 by Christmas which = 2 pounds a week.
My calorie deficit goal every day is 1,000 meaning I have to burn 1,000 calories MORE per day than I take in.
My calorie goal is set at 1900, calories to burn goal 2900.
My online body bugg program is keeping track of my nutritional stuff as well as all the other. I?óÔé¼Ôäóve noticed the past few days I?óÔé¼Ôäóve been way over in my sodium and fats. I?óÔé¼Ôäóll have to make some adjustments but I?óÔé¼Ôäóm going to wait and see where I?óÔé¼Ôäóm at in two weeks.
I thought I was going to try out a Yoga class tonight but I got my days mixed up and it?óÔé¼Ôäós not until tomorrow (Honestly I?óÔé¼Ôäóm kind of relieved?óÔé¼?ª my flu shot arm is really achy.)

| I burned 2703 calories, ate 1346 which created a deficit of 1357 on 10/05. Even though I didn't meet my burned target of 2,900 I exceeded my deficit goal of 1,000 by eating less and exceeding my steps taken goal of 12,000

I burned 3157 calories, took in 1438 and had a deficit of 1719 on 10/06.
So I tried out the Yoga class last night. It wasn't to bad but quite frankly, I'm just to heavy for some of the poses. That's a lot of weight to put on your toes and fingertips but I will get better with time. I'm going to give it a go once a week.
I went off and left my durn bugg at home That is really frustrating because now I won't have an accurate picutre of my activity today. I did water aerobics this a.m. and I know that twice around my work building is 2,500 steps and allegedly I'll be doing the Zumba class after work.
I'm kind of tired and the chlorine kind of got to my eyes this a.m. so I may peter out by the time zumba rolls around. we'll have to see.

So yesterday Was my lazy day I guess. I did water aerobics for 40 ninutes & I still managed to get around the building 3 times (almost but not quite 2 miles) My eyes were burning and I was really tired and sleepy. I took a nap during my lunch break, took another nap when I got home and was in bed by 8.
Today I remembered my bugg. I've taken two laps around the building with plans to go again this afternoon. I broke and ate a small red velvet cupcake this a.m. I'm not on a set 'diet' persay. My main goal is to burn 1,000 more calories per day than I ingest but I am kind of keeping my eye on how much fat/carbs and sodium I am taking in per day.
I have noticed with the help of my bugg program that my fat goes over every day regardless, the next highest is carbs and sodium. Most of the fats I'm eating are the good ones but if I don't start dropping inches or pounds I'll know what I need to adjust.
Going to hit the Ruby Tuesday's salad bar for lunch.
My calorie burn for today so far is 1277.. injested is 412.

Monday's is walking at work and Zumba, Tuesday's and Wednesday's are Water Aerobics and walking at work and Thursday's is walking at work and Yoga, unless I"m confusing wed with Thursday. Once November rolls around I'll be free on Saturday's to do the Zumba class.

I've burned 1848 calories so far today and consumed 1341. I see a Zumba class in my future tonight. I eat supper early, usually right before I leave work or as soon as I get home because I get up so early so i'm actually on track calorie wise.
5:30 Ok.. I'm done eating for the day...calories 1675. I have a deficit of 593 so far... let's see if one hour of Zumba can push me over the 1,000 deficit mark

O.M.G. I just want to start screaming, then after that, throw myself on the floor and cry for two hours.
I just had my measurements done this a.m. and I weighed at the Y. I weigh 262.5.. the exact same I did 7 days ago AND I have GAINED INCHES. omg. There's not a part of my body that doesn't ache. My activity level has increased by leaps and bounds EVERY SINGLE DAY... I'm logging everything I put into my mouth and with the exception of one day out of 10 I have reached my deficit goal and usually ECEEDED it. Usually it's the 1st week you get results, then the 2nd week your body is in shock and hangs on to everything. I was also counting on not losing pounds but losing inches.... the whole muscle thing but I didn't lose And I GAINED inches. This is so discouraging. I can't keep up this pace and not have results. I am having to force myself to be more active. I am getting up at 4 freakin' oclock in the a.m. to do water aerobics and do you really think I want to drag my #%@&! to the Y at 6:30 to sweat my #%@&! off for an hour when I've already had a 12 hour work day? I'm also walking and meeting/exceeding my step goal of 12K every day except sat/sun. What the #%@&!?
waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Neck 15.75 + .25
Chest 52 + 1.5
Upper Arm 17 + .5
Forearm 11.5 + .25

Ok so after having my little meltdown yesterday and talking with my hubby, mom and getting some advice from my bodybugg site it has been determined that I was doing to much and eating to little which sounds really weird.
I have Fibrom(can't spell it) and it would appear that I wasn't giving my poor body enough time between workout's to heal/repair and rest. I've been on this regimine for 10 days and I was doing zumba monday p.m. till 7:30 then turning right around the next a.m. getting up at 4 in order to do water aerobics in the morning. So my sleep was getting cut short and my body didn't have enough rest time between workouts. I'm going to space actual workouts 1 day apart on Monday, Wednesday & Friday. My schedule will free up some in November when I am no longer having to vend on Saturdays.
I have changed my deficit from 1000 to 500. My steps from 12K to 10K and my absolute minimum calorie intake can be no less than 1500. CAlories burned must stay 500 over what I ingest. EVery single day I have been so tired and sore. Exercise is supposed to make you feel energized and that just wasn't happening.
As I drop the weight and my body gradually get's used to the new working out I can increase the frequency and intensity. I was just doing to much to soon.
I stayed home from work today to rest and I'll be back up and at 'em tomorrow.

Last night was my 3rd Zumba class. it would seem I'm doing Zumba every Monday. This time it wasn't as "OMG I"M GOING TO DIE" and I feel kind of lighter. I smoked 5-600 calories in 1 hour of doing Zumba. I'm looking forward to being able to go on Saturday's after my vending stints are over.
I've lowered my goals and am only doing a 'structured' workout 3 times per week and walking every day.
Today is measurment day. I have yet to find a scale that has me weighing the same amount. At the chiro I was 259, at home around 262. I haven't done water aerobics at the Y yet this week and last week that one had me at 262.5.

cheeseonacracker I have lost my ever lovin' mind. Did I go to circuit training you may ask. YIP.. and THEN I also stayed for....KICK BOXING. I see drugs in my future... lots n lots of drugs...
My favorite thing so far is def. ZUMBA. I LOVE ZUMBA and I've been burning about 600ish calories for 1 hour but I only have access to 1 zumba class per week. Tonight I thought I would try circuit training (though I had NO idea what on earth it was). Basically it's a step class with barbells and you alternate cardio with weights and then somtimes do both at once. The same lady was doing kick boxing after and I thought.. what the hay.
I used the iddy biddy baby 1lb barbells, the 2" step thing and the lightest resistance band and I already feel like my abs are going to impode. My body is SO going ot hate me the next two days.

sigh. Still no significant change in inches. This is very frustrating, however I'm just going to keep on with my exercise routine. My body is BOUND to let go of it eventually.
Neck ~ 15.5 + .25 from Last Week the same since 10/5
Chest ~ 49 - 2.75 since Last week down 1.5 since 10/5 (honestly I think it's because I"m wearing my best bra today
Upper Arm~ 16.25 same from last week down .25 from 10-5
Fore Arm ~ 11.50 up .25 from last week the same since 10/5
Waist ~ 43 up .50 from last week and 10/5
Hip ~ 55 down .50 from last week up 2" from 10/5
Thigh~ 28.75 same as last week up .50 from 10/5
Calf ~ 18.25 down .25 from last week and 10/5
I think I've found the key for exercising. DVDs working out alone at the YMCA, water aerobics and the very expensive Wii... I just knew the Wii was the answer. The one thing I had never tried because I always felt to self conscious to be working out in front of a group of people is taking a class such as Zumba, circuit training, kick boxing... etc etc etc. There is something about me I guess, when you put me in a room full of people I will push on even when I want to drop because there are others there doing the same thing. And MUSIC makes it all better. I remember 5 weeks ago when I went to my 1st zumba class I slinked to the back and didn't talk to anyone. The music came on and off we went for a whole hour. I was drenched, exhausted and happy. I DID IT. Not only did I do it, but I had kept up better and had better rhythm than most of the others in the class.
The next zumba class I didn't hide in the back corner but moved up a little.
at this past Monday?óÔé¼Ôäós class I was dead center up front and I didn't give a hoot who could see me shake my #%@&!.
Yesterday I found myself wishing there was another zumba class I could do. With my schedule there wasn't really until Thursday and even that was pushing it because it starts at 4:30 but I'm going to leave work early to make it. so.. what to do in-between? I can't handle the loss of sleep that happens when I have to get up early for water aerobics. I saw that there was a circuit training at 5:30 so I went to that last night. Not bad at all. I used the shortest step platform and the lightest weights. The same teacher was doing kickboxing after that was over and I thought.. why the #%@&! not? That wasn't as bad as I was expecting either... the both involved music and other people. I've tried doing the same at home by myself and I'm just not enough to hold myself accountable.
The plan is now to incorporate circuit training and kickboxing on Tuesdays now. Maybe the addition of the weights will help kick start my body into letting go of the excess.

So for my Body Bugg I'm a part of a discussion Group called team green and we were issued some 'homework' if you will. I'm posting them here in case anyone is following and you might want to do the same. My answers for the top 5 reason for wanting to lose weight are:
1. Health. I want to be healthy and feel great. I want to be able to do any activity I want and not be limited because of my size, weight or physical shape. I am at the age now that I'm worried about my joints/knees/hips and what will happen to my mobility if I don't get under 200.
2. Mirrors! I avoid looking at my reflection when I pass a mirror in the mall. I hate my neck and stomach.
3.Pictures. I can't stand the way I look in pictures. All I see is my big massive grody neck
4. Clothes. I LOVE THEM. I want to be able to buy clothes and look fantastic.
5. I want to be a good role model to others who also struggle with their weight. I'll never be small, but I can look fabulous and be healthy and so can you!
For the fitness challenge. I've got that covered with the 3 classes i'm doing that are an hour each.
Mental Challenge: I want everyone (yes, everyone!) to write down your TOP 5 reasons for wanting to lose weight. Actually write them down please! 3 x 5 index cards are great for this - because they are portable. :-) Then, at least twice every day, READ your reasons cards!!! When you are feeling weak, read your cards! We all need to get our Focus back. :-) You don't have to share this on our message thread - but if you want to, please share!! (I would also encourage any of you to get the Beck Diet Solution. It is not a diet book. It is cognitive therapy to change the way you think. I'm not affiliated with this book in any way. I got it from the library - as I wasn't sure I wanted to spend the money. I'm pretty sure I'll be purchasing this book!)
Fitness Challenge: Since we are all at different levels, let's try this: Get your heart rate up for 30 mins. 4 times this week. Get it to a point where it's difficult to talk but you can still complete a sentence. Dance, walk, run, swim, zumba, steps, bike, elliptical...whatever. We know when we are walking leisurely vs. really getting a workout. Let's *GET A WORKOUT*, 4 times this week for 30 mins. Post how you?â?ó?»???¢?»???¢re doing and give your team members some ideas. (And remember, we will be reporting activity minutes!!)
Food Challenge: Since nutrition is usually 80% of losing weight, let's all RE-focus on tracking our food. I know my downfall is when I'm busybusybusy and not around a computer. I do great during the week - since I work at a computer all day, but not so hot on the weekends. Sooooo....to help out with that, I created a Food Tracking Sheet to capture what is needed to enter my food into the BB program. I've saved it as a Google document to share with all of you!! Let's ALL get our food entered every single day this week!! Everything that crosses your lips - 2 M&M's, beverages, a handful of chips, 5 baby carrots - ALL OF IT!!! I know it is hard to estimate servings sometimes. Just DO YOUR BEST!! When in doubt, I usually OVERestimate to try to give myself a cushion. Here is the link to copy & paste into your browser:

OMG! I freakin' LOVE Zumba! I mean, you go in, get your heart rate up for an hour, sweat so much your hair and clothes are wet.. and I LOVE it! Pure weirdness.
I went to an early class today with a different instructor. She wasn't as good and was off beat sometimes but I still got a really good work out. I would go every single day if it was offered.
I can't believe the years that I've wasted avoiding group classes that involved music. GEEZ. I am so thrilled to have finally figured out 'my thing'. I know I keep going on and on about it, but I'm 40 and I've finally found my 'exercise type'. It's very exciting.

Well.. here I am. A lot has happened in the past year or so. The short version:
Hubby had major mental break/meltdown 2011 had to be hospitalized. Lost his job and couldn't have worked anyway.. finally got a legit 'label and meds' for BiPolar I with Psychotic episodes. Been fighting for disability and living off of my check. FINALLY after a year and 3 months his disability was approved.
I found out I had a canteloupe sized fibroid tumor in my uterus and decided to have it and everything else removed (radical hysterectomy). During this year of stress my weight crept up to 295ish(stayed under 300). Post surgery I am now about 285. I have a fitbit am looking at joining Curves and through fitbit.com I am starting to type in everything I put in my mouth. I've been glancing through my journal on here and I'm so kind of ashamed and embarrased that I let myself gain and I never lost how I wanted to. I read my post full of such hope and excitement pre-surgery and kept thinking that my 331 pound self the day of surgery would kick todays 282ish pound self all over the building.
I need to findthe strength and self love to get over it and get r done already. NO MORE mindless eating and lumping around.
I really loved Zumba and Curves now has a Zumba infused class so I'm crossing my fingers. It's between curves and re-joining the Y. Going to give curves a shot and see what happens.
Wish me luck.

Had a very disheartening experience with Curves in Smyrna TN this morning and I can't decide whether to sit down and have a good cry or punch something . So.. I cried some then I wrote the location and corporate a letter . so there.

My experience with Smyrna Curves sent me running into the wide open arms of the YMCA. It's so far.. one of the best decisions I've ever made.
Monday I did Basic Zumba for 45 minutes
Tuesday I played in the pool/did 20 minutes of Water Aerobics, sat in the sauna, back in the pool, into the jacuzzi
Today is Water Zumba for an hour. A little nervous about it.. don't know what to expect but can't wait.
I'm journaling all of my food intake on myfitnesspal.com and in general feeling fairly optimistic about things. Trying to get in 75 grams of protein per day and my water are the challenges. I've loaded up on greek yogurt & cheese at work.
I FINALLY found a vitamin that I like. Alive Fruit gummies. They are AWESOME and I haven't missed a day yet.

Whoo hooo FRIDAY!
So Aqua Zumba.... fun stuff eventhough it resulted in my nose hairs permenantly smelling like chlorine.
The teacher set up a mat on the edge of the pool and she danced around and did her zumba moves above water while we sloshed around and created a wave pool below. I'll be going back for sure. Looks like basic Zumba on Monday's, Aqua Zumba on Wednesdays then either Tues or Thursday I'll need to figure out something else. I don't know that I'm up to the real zumba class yet and they only have the basic once a week.
My goal is to also get in 10 thousand steps per day (so far so good ). There's a zumba class I can take at my hometown Y on Sat morning but when I start vending again every sat (starting Setp8th) through October I won't be able to take it. but I can always swim on my own either Sat or Sun.
I just have to get over the lifeguard people people being there. I KNOW they have better things to do than to pay attention to what I'm doing.. I just hope I'm not giving them material for locker room jokes...

So I was a little worried about myself Yesterday. I wanted and did eat all day long. It was ridiculous. I was able to combat it with the amount of walking and 45 minutes of zumba but gracious!
Today has been better. reaching my protein hasn't been hard at all.. just have to surround myself with handy snacks.
Today will be playing in the pool day. Tomorrow Aqua Zumba.
