Am new to the site. Thanks for all the great info. I have been on track with healthy eating for 9 days now and feel great. My question is how do you keep on track when traveling? We are going away for 3 days. We will be staying with others in their condo they are renting. They eat lots of junk. Sweet Rolls for breakfast, skipped meals, chips etc. I won't have lots of control. I don't want to show up and load their refrigerator with my food. Don't know them that well. Help!

You have EVERY right to take your own food!! Why should they make you eat rubbish that is detrimental to your health and well being?!! If you would have some sort of reaction and end up in hospital eating their junk, would you still eat it? Course not!! Use that classic line from a recent post 'sorry, I can't eat that, it makes me break out in fat'! If they don't like it, bad luck, it's their health they are playing russian roulette with.
You don't want to be tempted and backslide so soon after starting and going well. I understand the temptation, so if you have your own stuff, you won't feel tempted to give in. Be strong!! Be Tuff!! Conquer the food demons!! (hope my 'affirmations don't haunt you and ruin your weekend!)

You could look into healthy things that keep well out of the fridge: tins of tuna, peas, beans, tomatos. Healthy (wholewheat) cereal or air-popped popcorn (already popped at home). Bring TVP (textured vegetable protein) - all you need is a mug and a keetle of boiling water to prepare it.
I'm writing now whilst visiting my sister. I came prepared. [I do know them well enough to have put stuff in their fridge and freezer - but I brought some of those 'dry' rations too]. My challenge is to stick with my food when there are so many 'exciting' food choices around.

Thanks for the encouragement and info. I heard that the first night we are having a BBQ for my brother-in-laws birthday. I will bring something that I can eat to contribute to the BBQ. We are going to be at my nephews volleyball tournament and shopping on Sat. and Sun., so I will stuff my purse with fruit and good munchies. I have really enjoyed reading all the posts. I just started my healthy eating this month and it is paying off. I have lost 6.5 lbs. I have been working out at a gym for the last 8 months, but my weight has been at a standstill. It is too soon to be out eating junk for a weekend. Thanks everyone.
