Two quickies:

Are mangos out of season right now? Past month or so they've been almost impossible to eat from the supermarket.

What wholewheat cereal does everyone like? I get bored of breakfast cereals so fast, I want to find a good one that'll fill me up for a while but still tastes good. I'm on Raisin Wheats right now.

I like the Fruit and Fibre sort, but make my own by using generic bran flakes and sprinkling on dried chopped apricots and dates, with some flaked nuts.

Even allowing for my high boredom threshold, I don't tire of it.

If you mean that mangos are now particularly hard, I've had a similiar experience recently. Used a knife to cut off 'wedges' and ate the mango flesh directly 'from the middle to the peel'.

My main encounter with cereal is my Oat-Cookie-Dough. Does this count? Start with some rolled porridge oats. Add some flavour [e.g. instant coffee, cocoa powder, cinamon, rum flavouring (or any other flavouring)], add artificial sweetner (I use non-calorie ones dissolved in a tiny amount of boiling water), then mix a very small amount of liquid (boiling or cold water - doesn't matter) until oats form a dough. If it is too wet and sticky, add more oats or alternatively some Bran to soak up the excess liquid. Now eat the cookie dough (optionally roll into cookies first)

I trust that's a non-"Diary of Shame" recipe?

I know that artificial sweetners may not be healthy and in large quantities may pose health risks, but I do have a sweet tooth and I'm not going to use sugar - so I'm standing by my recipe. I use Sodium Saccharin which is a sweetner that has been in use for many years and therefore hopefully safe-ish.

Hmm, I'm not sure whether I could eat cookie dough for breakfast! I may try them as snacks, though, or Christmas treats.

I have been to Morrisson's and found their mangos are much softer and much more edible :)
