Hi.
If anyone could help me out, I have a really annoying problem.. I've always been tired, having headaches, out of energy, and so on. Someone suggested I should eat more. I looked around and did some math: I only take in about 850 calories each day. On top of that, my 'diet' is very low in fat. However, I've weighed 152 lbs for a while; I've never lost any weight or fat, which I would like to.
I eat five to six times each day. In the morning, I have a grilled cheese and glass orange juice. Between my classes, I eat a graham cracker or two. At lunch, I only eat a salad (lettuce with strips of grilled chicken). When I get home, I eat a bowl of white rice. Supper varies each night, but I tend to not eat much. Sometimes I'll have a snack at night, as well.
Now, I also burn about 2100 calories. I spend most of my time at school walking around. When I get home, I take a 25 minute jog and then spend the rest of the day lazing around. At night, I sleep for about 6 hours. In total, I burn about 2100 calories.
This is giving me a deficit of about 1300 calories. I know this isn't healthy, but at the same time I'd expect to lose fat because I'm burning so much more than I'm taking in.
Can anyone give me some pointers on what I can do to help lose weight and fat? I've tried eating more, but I have trouble finding healthy things. I also become afraid of eating too much.
Help!

Hey zsuper!
I have only been on this website for a little while but i think I can help you!
First, of all you said "I know this isn't healthy, but at the same time I'd expect to lose fat because I'm burning so much more than I'm taking in." Well, the reason you are NOT burning any fat is because your body thinks you are starving it, so it takes ALL the food you are eating and it stores it as fat.
Second, what you are doing is unhealthy, and i am sure you have figured that out already because you are having symptoms (headaches, out of energy, ect.) what you need to do is maintain a calorie intake of AT LEAST 1200 anything below that is not good for your health.
Third, (correct me is i am wrong, anyone) you should not be burning more than 1000 calories than you eat a day. Anthing more than that can do harm to your body.
Hope that helped you!

How did you arrive at that estimate?
Also, what is your height, age and are you male or female ?
