Hello there,
To lose weight is difficult, especially when in your "normal" work environment. Snacks and fatty food are everywhere. On Vacation it could go the same way, but there are Vacations where weight losing is possible. In theory in any giving situation you should be able to do it. Just drink 3 glasses of Water before each meal and restrain form speedy eating. Chew more frequent than you are used to and remain calm when a feeding frenzy approaches you.
Where to go? Well a warmer country gives you a head start, higher temperatures help to surpress the feeling of raw hunger. Then if keeping busy and away from fast food restaurants a second chance arises. One can eat healthy and learn how to acquire discipline, enough to keep on at home what you learned on Vacation. The more calories you burn and the lower your meals are the higher your chances to lose what you like least.
kind regards

I am taking a few days of vacation later this month and I guarantee that I will lose weight. I'm going backpacking in the High Sierras. I plan to only carry 1500 calories or so per day. When all I have is what I take, with no stores for miles, plus walking all day.... well, you see it is truly a vacation conducive to weight loss.

Hey, I just posted about this in another thread. This is how we jump started our weight loss plan. We took a three week trip. Walked a lot and counted calories, eating healthy food. I highly recommend it as the way to start.

We have just been on a walking holiday in Italy - in Cinque Terre region. I think we lost weight there (clothes felt like it) but then a week eating out in London put it back on! Still, managed to come home the same weight, but with the new found motivation to get serious about weight loss.
The food in Italy was superb, tried to always have salads and not too much bread or wine (but it was very nice!) We also bought lots of fruit to eat. Each day was walking 10-14kms and some very steep terrain which had the heart rate up - or maybe that was the views
Best holiday ever!

I lost four pounds in 10 days in Switzerland, and we ate a lot of cheese and rich, local foods. It must have been all the walking!
