Hi my name is Kim and I'm 47. I have lost over a 100lbs twice in my life...once on Atkins which came back pretty quickly. The second time I took it off on Weight Watchers, it took longer to come off but I kept most of it off for 4 years. Two years ago I had to have a complete hysterectomy and then injured my knee and had to have knee surgery, since then I have gained about 50lbs and can not get it to come off. I have been doing water aerobics 3 times a week and eating around 1200 calories a day. I've cut out pop and coffee and drink over 100 oz of water/green tea a day. I'm here looking for any suggestions/ideas and support. Thank you |

Hi Kim. I don't have all your stats (height and weight, for example) but it is likely that your current energy needs at rest are 1600-1700, which means that a 1200 calorie diet can give you a calorie deficit of 400-500, so you should be on your way to lose at perhaps 1lb a week, perhaps slower than you are used to but it will still get you to your destination. You may find it easier to stick to your diet and find it more satisfying if you focus and specifically on produce as depicted in this graphic ![]() On the other hand if that does not appeal then you will need to be very consistent and accurate with your calorie counting and can not get it to come off if you are suggesting you have been faithfully adhering to 1200 calories and have seen zero movement on the scale, what is the period (how many weeks) that you have been completely stuck? |
