Hello, My name is Daniel and I have decided to start running again. It has been a year and half and in that time i have gained 50-55lbs. I was in the military and have a good understanding of diet and exercise, I was an avid runner for quite awhile, running at least 5k a day more usually i'd do 10k or more. I have always been on the heavy side but i seem to lose weight quite fast when i am focusing on diet and exercise. I am currently at 260lb and am 6'1ft.

My goal is to get to 200 or less, my high school weight. But i am unsure as to my limitations now that i have gained so much fat. I have already adjusted my diet somewhat, i eat mostly chicken and vegetables, But as soon as i start running i plan to stick to basically just that, no more fast food and pizza.

I have some running shoes coming in the mail(cheaper online than the store) and plan to go on about a 3 mile run. Is this too much since i am so out of shape? I always had a reputation for being able to push myself, i just dont want to get injured.

Any tips on getting back into shape and running i would love to hear. I have a feeling once i get that first run in and my endorphins are flowing ill be good, but who knows. Any tips?

I think 3 miles might well be the right amount for a first run but whatever happens you should be listening to your body, no point getting injured as you'll then have to think of a different type of exercise
