I love her to death, she?óÔé¼Ôäós the sweetest, most loving and most beautiful girl I?óÔé¼Ôäóve ever known. That being said her weight concerns me. We?óÔé¼Ôäóve been dating for 2.5 years( both of us are 18) and everyday I make sure to kiss her and tell her I love her. She used to be thin, but she never worked out or ate healthy( mainly dougnuts, pizza, and burgers) her metabolism was that good. Those years of sitting on the couch watching tv and eating have caught up to her and it concerns me. It hasn?óÔé¼Ôäót been like a 10 pound gain or anything small, she?óÔé¼Ôäós gone from like 110 to I?óÔé¼Ôäód say around 210-215. Every few weeks we?óÔé¼Ôäóll be at the mall buying her new and bigger shirts and jeans because the old ones ?óÔé¼?ô shrank in the wash?óÔé¼?Ø, won?óÔé¼Ôäót fasten or button?óÔé¼?Ø or are ?óÔé¼?ôgetting pretty tight?óÔé¼?Ø. Sometimes she?óÔé¼Ôäóll come over and eat entire bags of chips or Oreos I?óÔé¼Ôäóm a pretty healthy guy and I honestly love running outside. I invite her but she declines and is content on the couch.
Sometimes she can be disgusting and sit on the couch and belch and fart. Her breakfast at school is a pair of chocolate doughnuts and a cookie. All she eats is fast food and whenever we go out, she orders unhealthy entrees and we have to order appetizers and desserts every time otherwise she won?óÔé¼Ôäót be full. It?óÔé¼Ôäós not some superficial?óÔé¼?ô I don?óÔé¼Ôäót want to date you because you?óÔé¼Ôäóre big?óÔé¼?Ø thing, I want to stay with her and help her. How do I talk to her because it?óÔé¼Ôäós probably a sensitive topic? Maybe she likes who she is. I hate watching her struggle because of the weight with walking to class, sitting in desks, and wearing the school uniform. I wish I could talk to her parents but they?óÔé¼Ôäóre overweight as well. Her mom( real nice lady) keeps my girl on a solid diet of deep fried Southern food( moved from Miss. to Chicago) that is only making her bigger, fatter, and more lethargic. At one dinner I watched her eat a solid pound or so of both mac n cheese and fried okra before eating fried chicken and cake. That night she fell asleep in my arms from a food coma. Needless to say we went clothes shopping.

Hi. There is no type of exercise that can undo this type of eating. Being a "volume eater" in itself is not a problem if one adheres to a low-calorie diet, which coincidentally also promotes health rather than disease. The healthiest food mentioned there was Okra - that is before it was fried.

Our taste buds can change - we can grow to like different foods - but this is not immediate it takes a few weeks of discomfort whilst they adjust. What can motivate us to stick with a change this big?

One option is to be motivated by health concerns. Joel Fuhrman's book "Eat To Live" starts off with a very good explanation that motivates me to eat healthy.

I think that you are in a difficult position - if you demand that she changes, you could find yourself replaced by a boyfriend who does not care about her weight. The most effective transformations are when a person changes not for another person but for themselves.

I am generally at a loss to change those around me.

Perhaps lead by example.

My opinionn is there is nothing you can do, she is well aware of her size and feels overwhelmed I am sure. I think you are doing the right things, living healthy yourself and it's nice that you ask her to go for a run but be realistic, how about if after your run, you invite her so you can cool down and suggest it would be a chance for you and her to talk, not about weight of course, just to be togehter. It sounds like you are caring and supportive, that is all you can do, overeating I beleive is an addiction and like other addictions, we have to make up our own minds to do it but havng a loving, supportive partner makes it easier.

Hi Jrice,

Now onwards, she has to avoid junk food, oil foods, chicken, dal, high vitamins, and etc. It's bettter to take natural vegetables as well as fruits for your health.

Hi there Jrice94

I totally feel for you and your gf in the situation that you are both in ...

The thing is when I was overweight, chubby and literally eating all the KFC's and Chinese take aways I could, it wasn't that I didn't actually know I needed to lose weight I knew it better than anyone else but because I felt rubbush about myself I kept eating as it was my comfort ..

You hear the saying "comfort eating" this is when someone is stress or vulnerable in some emotional way or mental or even physical ..( I normally think is all 3 but that's for another post)and they do the thing they have programmed there central nervous system to do to get out of that stressful vulnerable situation..some people are drugs, alcohol, smoking , sex what ever ...

I knew mine was food ...so after deciding that I needed to change ( now your girlfriend ..not you.. needs to decide for herself how much she wants to change otherwise it will never happen) once she decides then you need to put things into place in her life to change the way her brain and nervous system is wired thus instead of everytime she is stress or feels rubbish or feels vulnerable she will turn to food ..instead she will doing something else like a 30minute walk ...drink a 2 pints of ice cold water ...talk to a friend...find a isolated place a scream for 10 mins or cry ...

In a nute shell what I did and anyone can do this is rewire your system and brain and body to do something productive and more healthy when feeling stress ..

so now if I'm stress I go and do a 35 min workout now it does take time to get that wired into your system but you can do it in 30 days .....and the secret is to do something that your body doesn't want to do for 30 days solid and not think about after the 30 days ..

so eat clean
train effectively
do it solidyly for 30 days

I saw it as a little game ..once 30 days are over.. you realise eating clean and training effectively ( right exercises) is built into your nervous system and if you don't do it you feel weird ....

look if I can do it ..so can your girlfriend..

if you need anymore advice like right training or what to eat ..or more ways to change your habbits and mindset ..give us a message ..

good luck and remember anyone can change ..if I can ..you can and your girlfriend defiantly can ..

Hi John

When it comes to losing weight ..it comes down to 2 things..

Quality of foods you eat, so check the paleo diet out
it's basically foods that the paleo man and woman use to eat like fresh poultry meats and fresh veg not all this process , refine foods and foods product that the world markets to us....
If you are serious about losing weight you must change the way you eat .....

so sugar, pasta , white carbs are a no no ...doesn't mean don't eat carbs but don't eat bad carbs..

2nd thing to losing weight at home is the effective exercises /workouts ..

What I do mostly is HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) body weight exercises , you seriously don't need any silly gym equipment or those silly gadgets, maybe a kettle bell but don't worry if you don't have one as I basically did body weight exercises as I travel quite a bit so I need to be able to exercises and workout wherever I am and I lost 6 inches from waist in 28 weeks and got a solid flat stomach sixpack..No lie ...

check one of my workouts it's a style of workouts that's only 4mins long ..

No Problem john

if you need any more advice or you have anymore questions just give us a shout ..

I really understand the struggles, embarrassment the lack of willpower and lack of self esteem that being over weight causes and how it totally makes you feel bad about yourself ..as I was in that place 2 years ago ...

The truth again is i'm a very normal guy ..nothing special about me ..but if I can do it ..anyone can : )))))

Hi John

Great to hear from you and totally understand your situation as I was in the same boat as you when I was 26 ..I was working in a office job and it was stressful so I didn't have the willpower to train or eat right and like you because I was overweight this gave me bad knees..and at age 29 I weighed a total of 192lbs oh I am 5ft 7... ..anyway cut the long story short I implemented a few simple things which you can do ..

Your number 1 priority is getting you in the state to eat right and believe me when I say this you must move your body in some ways and when ya lacking of will power and your joint hurts it seems difficult ...but do the following and you be on your way

1) 20 min to 30 min walking everyday
2) hydration lots of water and lemon
3) eat real foods and lots of green veg
4) consume good fats like coconut oil and omega 3

Also I highly reccomend detoxing which you can do so very easily ..
check how I do it with this instruction video..

love to hear your response

Yes You should. At least 150 moments per 7 days of average aerobic action or 75 moments per 7 days of vigorous aerobic action. However, to effectively lose or maintain weight, some people may need up to 300 moments per 7 days of average exercising. You also can do a combination of average and vigorous action.
