Since last january I have lost over 23 pounds. 23 pounds which I am starting to regain now.. I have gained about 5 pounds already and this past week I cannot stop myself from eating. I am very fit and physically active, am able to do 50 pushups in one set nonstop in under 2 minutes. I do weight lifting as well as martial arts 5 days a week. Now the foods I eat are in no way foods high in fat and carbs, I eat healthy foods, the last time I have had Mcdonalods or any other fast food was over 2 years ago, Buckwheat is my main food right now as well as chicken breast. But I just cannot stop eating I am always hungry I can't stop myself anymore I just blackout go automatically to the fridge and get something to eat whether it is an apple, tomato, cereal and all that, and that is just nonstop, all day. I can't get myself to feel full and something seems to be pulling me back to the fridge all the time... Does anyone have any secrets/ways to stop this overeating? But I just cannot stop eating I am always hungry Hi I have two questions for you, first of all can you at all describe the "hunger" symptoms in more detail. Here http://youtu.be/JfVrRfm9U2I Joel Fuhrman describes the symptoms of toxic hunger Alternatively, can you tell me if you resonate with these questions |

its just hunger that doesnt go away, doesnt matter how much i eat i still feel the same even though it sometimes comes to the point where my stomach feels very "stuffed" but i still feel hungry. As far as the questions go everything is a yes except numbers - 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9, 12, . I never eat out of emotion, regardless of how I feel I always eat the same way, I eat good foods nothing fatty or bad for the health the only problem with that is that I eat too much and if I am home all day it means eating all day. And yes, feeling guilty a lot is part of it. I do not carve for sugar but there are certain foods that until they are no more I cannot stop, some examples are pizza and ice cream, there are some more examples but I cannot remember them ATM.. I stopped buying foods I couldn't stop eating but whenever I go to a party or anything like that it takes great will power to say no and sometimes I just can't say no Last edited on 2 Oct 2012 09:03 am by xthekingx |

there is a difference between wanting to eat and being hungry so again I am pressing you define exactly what you mean by hunger. Here is another list of toxic hunger symptoms http://www.motionperformancefitness.com/blog/true-vs-toxic-hunger.aspx do you feel your hunger in the mouth and throat or do you feel it somewhere else or is it not even a physical sensation and you just want to eat? As you gave a few "Yes" answers you might want to try an OA meeting. They are available face-to-face but there are also telephone meetings and live online (like a chat-room). Is your goal to learn to not spend so much time eating? Or would your ideal world solution be to be able to eat all day long but just continue to be slim? Actually I don't know how slim you are. You said you've lost 23 pounds but you have not mentioned your height and weight. It is probably worth mentioning that if you are underweight then your body will continue to send you signals to eat because it wants you to be a healthy weight. Healthy BMI is in the range 18.5-24.9 |

You mentioned "nothing fatty", so picking up on the references to those high-fat foods (pizza, ice-cream) If you are slim - are you on a diet that is too low in fat? are you getting your essential fatty acids? Example recommendations would be several ounces of seeds and nuts per day (even an overweight person should eat one ounce); plus a tablespoon flax seeds and maybe half an avocado. An overweight person on a diet is on a "high fat diet" as they are using up their fat for energy but a slim person needs to have fat in their diet (preferably from healthy sources). Many people also benefit from a fish oil supplement (for example I take 3 a day on the theory that it is recommended for anxious people) |

I am overweight and used to be obese. I take omega 3 fish oil 4-5 capsules a day and have been for the past 4 years as well as 3-4 capsules a day of hawthorn berries. I am about 6'1 and weight 220 pounds. I used to be 238 went down to 215 and now I am at 220. I can't explain this feeling it automatically sends me to the fridge it's like that feeling that you "need" to do something, and I can't even stop myself I do not feel anything in my throat or anything like that its just a feeling of "I need to eat" .. I am trying to get down to 205 pounds. What I want to know is how to manage this feeling of "need". How can I tell myself when going to the fridge to STOP as well as what foods can I eat all the time whenever I go to the fridge so that I do not gain weight Last edited on 2 Oct 2012 03:10 pm by xthekingx |

Vegetables, and in particular -leafy vegetables -green vegetables -non-starchy vegetables are all very low in calories if you wanted to, you could eat them in unlimited quantities all day long, your stomach will be full and you will lose weight. I can't think of any non-starchy vegetable that is more than 40 calories per 100 grams (and some are around 30 or 20 calories per 100 grams) Eat from the base of this pyramid ![]() |

Thank you for your help. I will start to eat vegetables only when hungry and not other foods. Hopefully I will stop the weight gain and begin to loose weight. Thanks again. Last edited on 2 Oct 2012 08:38 pm by xthekingx |

Drink water whenever you feel hungry; water suppresses hunger and also acts as a detox. |

If you feel hungry then you may eat, but eat in small portions and drink water much. But if hunger problem remains, then I should suggest you to have nutrients supplements with doctor's consultations. Supplements shall complete your all nutrients level and will stop your hunger problem. |

Self control is the best solution but in the event that you can't you need to see a doctor and ask some advice. Over eating can lead you to obesity which is the problem of must us. That is why before it was too late to stop ask advise from the experts. |

just make sure it's really healthy food. and make sure you drink water. The body confuses thirst with hunger at times. |

Drink lots of water. Getting hungry? Chug a huge glass of water? Have a craving? Water. Getting ready for dinner? You guessed it, chug a large glass of water first. Don't buy the food, keep it out of the house. Learn some quick healthy meals instead of going out for food. Grow food - garden. Learn how healthy food is made. -Take small steps and don't beat yourself up. Those small steps will get bigger and eventually you will realise living a healthy life style isn't the choir you once thought it was. Start by doing exercises you are comfortable with and each week increase them a little. Same goes for eating, try cut a little off every week. Don't just dive into the deep end because that's just too much work to start with. Small steps! |

I've been in similar situations with constant hunger that was never satisfied not even by cheeseburgers with chocolate cake and ice cream for dessert. I could pack in 3000 calories, feel like I was on the verge of a heart attack, and keep on eating. Like you, this occurred after months of strict dieting. I think at some point my sense of how much to eat, or the sensation of fullness just went haywire. What works for me is to admit that I can no longer rely on my appetite or my sense of satiation to tell me when to stop. I have to be my own parent and set firm, regular mealtimes with one snack before bed. Each meal has a set calorie limit. Once I've had my limit, say 600 calories for dinner, then I have to stop. Am I still hungry? Yes, but I would be hungry if I had eaten 2000 calories, so I stop. I go do something to distract myself, and get on with life. It gets easier and the hunger lasts for shorter periods. |
