Hi, I'm 14 years old, 5.7 and 175 pounds. I really want to lose weight, but I'm afraid of what my parents'll say when I start exercising (e.g. like running). I know it sounds stupid, but I really need some help.

Explain to them what BMI is. That anything between 17.5 and 24.9 is healthy. Show them a BMI calculator on the internet and explain that yours works out at 27.4 so you will want their co-operation with exercise and with healthier eating. (If they are also overweight perhaps they will think about doing this with you?)

Running is not about just loosing weight :p i run because it helps me clear my mind! Just run and if they ask just tell them i makes you feel better and healthy just dont mention the whole weight loss thing or they might go ballistic like mine would if i said that.
