Hello everyone. I was wondering if I should get some Whey protein for my diet coming up. I eat pretty healthy, and for my meat consumption I eat meat, but I have heard a lot of good facts about Whey. My friend recommended me a particular brand of whey. I haven't tried Whey before, so I was just wondering what dieters thought of this. Thank you!

That is a bit of a nonsense question. Did your friend recommend a particular brand of cottage cheese or a particular brand of milk? As it is a staple item, you should buy something that represents a good deal in terms of price per pound. This might be online or at a local store.

Whey Powder is a waste by-product of the cheese-making process. It is essentially a dairy product. It is high in protein and low in carbohydrate. It has similar macro-nutrient ratios to chicken breast. You can diet without Whey the same way you can diet without cottage cheese. It is just another type of food for your kitchen - one that happens to be high in protein.

When dieting you are in a caloric deficit and you should check your protein intake, aim for 0.5-1g per 1lb of body weight (from all foods, including Whey)

(By the way, we don't allow product links on the forum)

That is the conclusion I came to. However I noticed that a single teaspoon (not scoop) of Whey powder makes my fruit smoothies nice and creamy. Adding chicken breast or beans to my smoothie does not have the same effect

Whey protein will not help you cut weight. It is really only recommended for people who need protein supplementation due to poor diet or for athletes/body builders who are looking to add significant muscle mass. If you already shooting for a high protein diet I'm sure you are getting enough protein from there and adding whey protein supplements will only make it harder for you to stay under you calorie goal as protein shakes are ofter 100-200 calories.
