I did something insanely stupid over the past few days while on vacation, getting completely drunk and way overdoing it.  Not only did I pay the price with the hangover, but I managed to put on 6-7 pounds! :nono:

I'm not happy about this at all and while I have no one to blame for it but myself, my question is: How much of this massive weight gain is "actual" weight and how quickly can I get it off?

Also, while I'm here, I have another question since my face is obviously puffy and bloated after that much drinking.  Prior to that though, I've been having a very strange "face fat" gain over the past 12 months or so that makes no sense. Some of my weight lifting and boxing pictures even in 2010 show a nice, fairly chiseled jaw and face but in 2011 my face just starting getting pudgy despite only a minimal weight gain over the course of the year.  I tried doing some of those "face fat exercises" and it seemed like they actually only made my face worse.  I'm currently 34 going on 35 in April and don't want the face to get even worse.  Does anybody have an explanation for this as well as any tips to tighten it or get rid of it?

Thanks in advance!

It depends how you were dieting before. If you were in a strict diet you body could have been in starvation mode. So any excess of calories coming in will be stored. Try to balance your diet with exercise, and whenever you feel that you are stucked in a certain weight (platoe effect) it is time to change.
As far as the face, sometimes it has nothing to do with weight but with the quality of the food. Carbonated drinks (soda) will soften tissue, processed sugar (candy) also does the same effect. Eat lean and exercise. Don't waste time with any neck exercises, whenever the fat is gone your chin will be "sharp"again.
I hope I could help

Hmmm... I always drop (water) weight the day after drinking alcohol. I think it acts as a dehydrator on most people. Did you eat a lot of salty snacks while drinking? Could be excess salt. That makes you puff up (rings tight, etc). Now if it's been going on for a long time, then it's probably something else.  Six or 7 pounds wouldn't make that much difference.  How much difference in your weight from 2010 to 2011?

I agree neck exercises won't help reduce fat or puffiness around your neck.  Only possibly build up muscles in that area.

Hi Nancy.  As of today, I've dropped back down to pretty close to my regular weight so I'm assuming it was primarily water retention as well.  It's definitely not a good feeling though to wake up with a massive hangover then step on the scale only to add insult to injury with a weight jump like that.  No more alcohol for me for a long time.

As far as the face: I'm only up about 9 pounds (excluding whatever's left from my drinking/partying binge) since 2010.  So to go from a chiseled face to a soft face with neck fat over 9 pounds just isn't making any sense to me. ???
