Fresh fruit: All you have to do is eat it ore peel and eating. That's almost as easy and opening ca bag of chips or taking the wrapper of a Twinkie.

Canned Soup: Pour it into a bowl and pop it in to a microwave oven. YUM!

Frozen Meals: Take them out of the package and nuke them. YUM!

Vegetables: Some you can eat raw. Others you can steam and other come frozen and you can nuke them. YUM

Tea: Boil water and pour it over the tea bags. Here's the hardest part. You have to let is steep for a few minute and you have have to wait for it to cool.

Diary Products: Drink skim milk. Eat Low Fat Yogurt or cottage cheese. YUM!

Grains: Pour a health breakfast cereal in a bowl, add 4 ounces of milk and eat it. YUM! Eat whole grain bread. YUM!

| Don't forget canned (or pouched) fish. Most water-packed cans are 100-150 calories depending on size, and some even have that key-top or are in a sealed pouch so a can opener's not necessary. Trader Joe's has several varieties other than tuna like sardines ( higher in omega, 3's more plentiful than tuna) and trout.

Good suggestion. This shows that you are thinking. Keep adding to it!

I'm a big fan of once a week cooking, especially with things that take a long time to cook, like sweet potatoes.
This takes a little cooking- but it's a real calorie bargain.
The local discount grocery store sells a huge frozen salmon fillet for 3.99 Thaw it out under running water, Spray it on both sides with Pam, shake a little seasoning salt over it and bake at 400 for about 8 minutes. The whole thing is 400 calories, and it's easily enough for 2 meals, possibly 3 if you don't mind salmon for breakfast.Last edited on 21 Oct 2011 05:24 pm by Tankgirl

Cooking isn't rocket surgery. I like gourmet food but simple is good too.

| LOL, that's not gourmet. That's cheapskate cuisine. I cook more often than not because ready made food I has unhealthy/undesirable ingredients, and costs more.
