I am now 274lbs and I am so mad at myself to have gotten this heavy. I have tried diets here and there and they never worked because I don?óÔé¼Ôäót think I was ever truly motivated to lose weight. I always said I was but, well food always seemed so enjoyable and exercise so time consuming.
Well I am ready; I have a gym membership and started using it. I also went to the store and found tasty, but low calorie foods. One of the biggest things I did get was lean cuisine meals. It was always hard for me to cook meals for my family and not over indulge. I have taken myself off kitchen duty for the time being while I learn portion control and healthier cooking. I have also been trying to eat healthy snacks between meals, like a pack of raw almonds (100 calories), oranges, or other fruits. For breakfast I have been trying yogurt, and that has been the hardest. I HATE yogurt and it makes my tummy a little upset for a bit after. However, the Yoplait yogurts that taste like red velvet cake or the cheesecake has gone a long way to help with my dislike for yogurt.
I am here to talk with others to give and gain encouragement and support. I look forward to ?óÔé¼?ômeeting?óÔé¼?Ø everyone and talking about our journey to a healthy lifestyle.

Welcome Megan!
I know it can be difficult to cook for your family when you are trying to lose weight and get healthier, especially if they are not very interested in eating healthier. Don't give up on them, eating healthier is best for your whole family, whether they are in need of losing weight or not. I'm the cook for my family too and they aren't always receptive to the way I eat but I have phased in new healthier dinners gradually. That's not to say that I always make the most nutritious meal, there are still some days of hot dogs and baked macaroni and cheese, but even that can be made healthier then the norm.
You don't have to eat yogurt if you hate it. Many yogurts have a lot of sugar which is best to avoid or limit anyway. Maybe you could make yogurt smoothies, always a winner at my house. Just mix plain unsweetened yogurt with fruit in a blender and voila, yogurt smoothies.

I know when I was a kid I liked yogurt, I think it is honestly needing to recondition my mind and body to liking healthy food. I am going to give it a week and see how it goes. I do like making smoothies, I just need to get my blender out of the cupboard and start using it. I have tons of frozen fruit. I like to stick frozen fruit, water, and yogurt (light or fat free) in the blender and mix it all up.
I went to the gym this morning and it felt good to workout. I am going to start a food and exercise journal. Do you know of any online one that could be helpful?

| The forums here on CPH have a category called "My Diary" where you can type in your food/exercise for the day. It doesn't calculate anything for you though, it's really more for just sharing your thoughts, food/exercise, or whatever you want to write about. There are food & nutrition calculators and calories burned calculators also on this site that might be useful to you.
