All of the calories burned calculators I've used vary greatly with what I'm doing. I'm using the wii fit stepping routine at an hour to 90 minutes every day. Okay, most days.

Thing is that the wii fit calculates an hour at around 400 calories whereas a website has it around 900. I like this site's count at over 1,100 calories but I'm not sure it's accurate. I don't know if any on-line calculator is accurate.

I sure could use some help here. I need to know withing a certain tolerance what I'm burning. You know, give or take 50 lbs.

I need to maintain a calorie deficit of 1,200 to reach my goal weight by this time next year.

Thanks for your help and attention!

The main factors are 1) your weight and 2) the intensity of the workout.

when I was doing more calorie counting and I encountered a new food I would look for the best (i.e. lowest) calorie count on all the different websites, getting the best "deal" for myself. Now that was just as silly!

It would be sensible to take the conservative (lower) figure as the more likely.

If you like gadgets, buy yourself a relatively-inexpensive Heart Rate monitor with a calories function and strap yourself when exercising. It will give a better estimate of calories burnt based on your HR during the workout. You'll find you burn a different number of calories on different days and then you'll know which of the calculators was closer. (and yes, the HR is also just using a formula but it has the heart rate input which your other formulas don't have)
