Singapore In Singapore, the BMI cut-off figures were revised in 2005 with an emphasis on health risks instead of weight. Adults whose BMI is between 18.5 and 22.9 have a low risk of developing heart disease and other health problems such as diabetes. Those with a BMI between 23 and 27.4 are at moderate risk while those with a BMI of 27.5 and above are at high risk of heart disease and other types of health problems.

In piggy America people would say that this beautiful woman is anorexic.
A friend of mine is doing online dating. There are categories for weight. They are Slender, Athletic, Average, A few extra pounds and Plus Size. He showed me what the girls who say a few extra pounds look like. The ones who show full length bodies are obese but most just show their pudgy faces. He finds it very discouraging.
We have discussed the slender beauty, grace and style of the Asian woman.

Asian women because they eat responsibly age slowly. Why are you so jealous that you had to make a catty jealous ft girl comment like that? If you had a man that woman would turn his head and that just chaps your hide. You are of the mind set that only big fat bimbos are real women.
BTW folks a size zero in women's pants is a 24-25 inch waist. The fat girl chauvinist will say that unless a woman is over a size 12 she's not real woman.
Western females can learn a lot from Asian woman.

| I suspected the same thing - that to keep their figure, they're restricting calories by habit, leading to a more youthful appearance.

I doubt they are going hungry of even doing it on purpose. Asians are more advanced, graceful and dignified.
Low calories diets slow the aging process.

I don't think anyone would think this girl looks anorexic. Thin yes, but anorexic no way. You can say whatever you want about me but I still think she looks like a young teenage girl. Real women come in all shapes and sizes, both fat and thin. I already know that you think a real woman is only one who is thin, we have a difference of opinion on that subject.

| Asians in general have a much smaller skeletal frame than most other cultures. Their BMI measures reflect that. This comparison doesn't hold weight.

M2 has always said he likes Kim Kardashian, until she opens her mouth. I don't think super-skinny is the law here. Some men prefer thinner, some want a hard body, some men want something soft. It's a matter of preference, but all of them want someone who is HEALTHY.
BMI is never the most accurate measure of health, but it's a good general guideline. I think lowering the overweight category from 25 to 23 isn't a bad idea. To be honest, unless someone is muscular, anything above a 23 begins to look rather chubby. I used to have a BMI of about 23 in highschool, and I definately looked out of shape and slightly overweight. Body composition is far more important than BMI because it takes into account bone, muscle and fat. If you are very small framed, large framed, or muscular, BMI isn't going to be accurate.

You are putting word in my mouth. Fat females are not women. Females age 18 with a normal BMI are more likely to be women. All fat females are girls.

Actually Asians have more body fat and wider hips. That is why they are more intelligent. They deliver babies with larger brains.

BMI applies best to females because their musculature doesn't vary as much as male musculature.
Some people think that 18 is not medically underweight. IMO Body fat % and where that fat is is a better yardstick.

On the contrary, Asian females generally have narrower hips. I can say this because I'm Asian myself and I live in an Asian country. But of course, that doesn't necessarily mean we're any more or less smarter than other races because of it. I mean, if wide hips are a requirement for producing intelligent people, then (I know I'm going to get flamed for this but might as well throw it out there) why are Blacks and Hispanics (whose women are famous for their booties) GENERALLY score lower in standardized tests...
Okay, off course here. My point was that Asian women don't have wide hips on average and don't necessarily produce more intelligent babies on average. Why we happen to GENERALLY be better in maths and sciences is purely down to hard work, lots of practice, application and experience.
Oh yeah, to Michelle...that girl in the picture does not look 13 or 16 to me (as an Asian female checking out another Asian chick). Looking at her I'd say she's clearly in her early to mid 20s. Please don't make comments like that because believe it or not, skinny women hate being made to feel less of a woman because they're genetically built with smaller frames. It's not fair.

East Asians certainly are more civilized than the other races. Look how Americans behaved during Hurricane Katrina and compare that to the way the Japanese behaved after the earthquake.
The reason that men prefer Asian women is that they are often slender, intelligent and humble. Part of it is the culture but there are hormonal differences.
Don't be so humble. If you want to feel bad about being Asian consider this. You guys don't drive all that well. You will never win the gold medal in track and field. Other than that you Asians have genetic advantages. That is why men want to make babies with you Asian women.
Most Western males would agree, Asian women are HOT!

See what I mean?

Asian women have wider pelvic girdles and that is why they are able to give birth to babies with larger brains. That is why Asians are smarter and maybe that is why not many of the become obese. That are also more civilized.

Thank you. I was looking for this article but missed it.
Do you think the BMI is the most important health marker, even when compared to body fat? If someone has a slightly overweight ( or even obese as in the case of athletes) BMI but a fitness level body fat percentage, are there exceptions?
I'll bet a few of the men and women in my cross fit class are clinically overweight, but I'd have a hard time spotting fat on them!

That would depend on where the fat is deposited. Both are important clinical indicators.

So it's better to not have so much muscle that it pushes you into the overweight category? Even if you're at a minimum of healthy body fat?
The very thin waifish look just seems so Victorian. Of course women actually, swooned then ( because their corsets were too tight!)Last edited on 28 Mar 2012 10:32 pm by Mrs_Slowski

I make women swoon and you are swooning now.
Being heavily muscled means you have to eat a lot. That creates more free radicals. If you have muscular legs it is actually good for your heart. If the muscles have good vascularity that is also good but why carry all that around?
You can tell by my picture that I am a manly man. My father was a manly and so were my grandfathers. It's genetics and testosterone.

JSABD, If I swooned over every fit man I'd still be passed out on the gym floor. Not very productive.
I get that athletes live shorter lives, but I'd rather give up the years between 90-100 if it meant I had better bone density and my relatives didn't have to spend their time taking care of me.
