http://www.healthcalculators.org/calculators/waist_hip.asp There is nothing uglier than a muffin top. YUK! Hip waist ratio is a good indicator or cardio vascular health. The lower your number the better. ![]() This is revolting! The notion that fat girls have low self esteem is laughable. I see this sort of ugliness all the time. Not only is this ugly it is unhealthy. This porker will only get fatter and unhealthier. If you look like this not only are you an eyesore you are unhealthy. Grow up! I'm .80, barely in the healthy range but working on it. My hubby about fell out when I first used the term muffin top to describe a girl in those low waist stretch jeans. And they actually think they're hot with their target peeping out over their spillage.... Makes me shudder. |

I heard those low-waisted jeans are going out of fashion. Couldn't be happier, since they seem to be geared towards showing off lower back tattoos. |

That girl has to have a whole lot of ego to think she look good and go out in public looking like that and what a waste of a tattoo. I see stuff like that all the time. It's really kinda#%@&!tish. It's not like they are showing the classical beauty of the female torso. I am not advocating that women dress like prudes but there should be some standards. A slender woman in the same outfit would look good and even ladylike but this one looks like a tramp who is flaunting her flab. ![]() They actually think that they look good. |

Yikes. I'd have to have six pack or abs like Shakira to wear something that showed my midsection. Nothing uglier? c'mon JS, I'm NOT posting it but you've seen that pic that shows a woman's panny hanging out the bottom of her FULL length dress, right? |

No thank you. I thought about getting a "functional corset" once for about 30 seconds. No more. Does this ratio thing work for men too? |

The corset talk makes me wonder. If someone uses a corset to achieve a better whr ratio than they could get from diet and exercise alone, would they benefit more? To me it seems like taking one health marker and working with it to the exclusion of everything else, like focusing so much on cholesterol that someone eats a nearly fat free but still full of garbage diet (Snackwells and fat free coffee cake for examples) |

Not only that, but what about what they do to women's insides. I mean, the rib cage is altered and internal organs are pushed around. Yikes! I wouldn't want that for anyone. And some of the women look cool with their corsets on, but naked I bet they're pretty dang scary. |

Mmm...I don't think this is accurate. Yes, I suppose that a range would be healthy when it comes to measuring the best WHR. But I think it's inaccurate to say that the lower the ratio is the better. A friend and I actually measured each other. I'm 5'4" 48 kg (BMI 18) whereas she's 5'6" 71 kg (BMI 25). We're both Asian so she's clearly overweight according to her BMI. My waist is 24 inches and hips are 32 inches. That makes my ratio 0.75. Her waist is 29 and her hips are 40 so her WHR is 0.725. Does that make her healthier than me? Well by the numbers...unclear. And from my personal experience watching her habits and lifestyle (junk food, alcohol, drugs and cigarettes)...no. Now, I'm not saying I'm a saint. I've done my fair share of naughty things but definitely make much more of an effort in living a healthy lifestyle. My point: A WHR doesn't reflect how healthy a woman is. Perhaps a measure of 'attractiveness'...but not health. |

But I think it's inaccurate to say that the lower the ratio is the better. It has been proven scientifically. Pear shaped people are at less risk for heart disease than apple shaped. I doubt if you are at risk but if your fat friend had bigger waist than a woman of the same same weight statistically she would be at greater risk. |

So here is my horrible muffin top. Do I really have to get rid of it? Is it really so ugly it burns your eyes? What do you guys think what could my hip waist ratio be (I have nothing to measure it with here) If it's really so ugly it's time for me to get my ugly fat #%@&! to the gym. It looks to me like your waist is bigger than your hips. It's make you look like a dude albeit a fat dude. You don't need the gym to get rid of it. You need to eat less and my estimate would be 35% less. Men like womanly women. ![]() See what I mean? |
