You all have one.
You have an excuse for why you are fat.
You have an excuse for why you stay fat.
You have an excuse for why you only lose a little weight and then gain it back.
Let's hear your lame excuses.
Convince me that you have a legitimate reason for why you are fat.

Could it be because you eat too much?

Why not?
The reason is so that other people can see how ridiculous people can be.

okay I'll go.
I'm still fat because I spent 20+ years getting fat, and 2 on the way back. At 2 pounds a week, that's still another 8 months

Here is mine.
I am not FAT, I am however overweight. I am a 46 y/o mother of 4. Who has been a single mom for most of my life. I have worked two and three jobs most of that time to take care of my children. I did not have time to eat 6 meals a day or exercise every day/ any day. I recently gave birth to a surrogate baby and have had many health problems due to an extremely difficult delivery. I have had 4 surgeries in the past two years. I still have the motivation and determination to begin exercise and dieting now that I do have the time. I have lived a happy life, I now just want to be healthy as well. Fat people are still people. Probably more happy then you seem to be. You love your body soooo much but you seem to have no life. Life is beautiful. Learn to enjoy life and be happy.

In all of the above excuses what is causing you to eat more than 2000 calories a day because if you are overweight there is no way you are not eating 2000 calories a day. Think of all the exercise you are getting chasing those kids and working those jobs.
Eat under 2000 calories a day and you CAN'T get overweight.
There is no need to talk out of your butt and get personal and yes fat people are happy but so are drunks and junkies when they are getting their fixes. Food makes fat people happy. They live to eat and not the other way around. They are content. I am not content. I refuse to be content because I have a life to live. BTW, Hitler was a happy guy.

When you call people "fat" that is personal. Weather they are or not. You degrade people on here but you can not take it when someone nicely tells you that you seem unhappy.
Yes, it is hard to raise children and work long and hard and care about what you look like or how much you eat. I was putting my kids before myself. I have eaten too much in my time but, I have never been fat and I am working toward getting healthy for myself. I have no excuses. I don't need excuses. I did what I thought was best at the time. I was happy and I am happy now. My children are happy and love me for who I am. Their opinions are gold to me.
These forums are for tough love. They are for people who would like help staying on their goals. You degrade people
so much, if I was not so determined, I would sit on my sofa with a gallon of ice cream and cry after reading some of your posts.

When I call people fat it's factual. Should I call them fad bodied or gravitationally challenged? Caloric poisoned?
What am I not taking and they must be Kreskin if they can determine my happiness based of my advice to the obese. Saying I am not happy based on my coaching here in the tough love forum would be like telling a drill sergeant he's not happy because he's dressing down a bunch of knuckle headed recruits.

Boo hoo! My parents raised 5 kids and cared for a set of grandparents. My mother worked and owned a business and my father worked to jobs and neither one of them complained.
My parent didn't do what they "thought" was best, the did what was best and our opinions mattered far less to them than our well being.

People degrade themselves sweetheart and nobody is forcing you to read this forum.
If somebody is so weak willed that they would eat themselves to death because what I think hurts their feelings they might as well drink poison. PATHETIC!

Yea, he does like to degrade others and doesn't like it when he gets it back. I think it's the little boy in him or something.
And honey don't let this tool make you run for the ice cream. What is the ice cream going to do for you anyway??? No don't answer that, I'm sure it has to do with emotional eating and if you answer me he's just going to ream you some more, and I would rather you not be sad by him.

Thanks, No, I am not letting him make me run for ice cream. I was already so motivated to do this. All he did is make me run more to get my frustrations out.
He does not intimidate me. I think I look ten times better than he does already. I cant wait till I reach my goal. I just know that there are larger people here reading this and I know how easily it is to be discouraged. I dont want him to discourage anyone. Small or large.

Glad you ran more. Of course you know that he's going to try and take credit for it, no matter, you did it and good for you! Keep your chin up and remember that he is just a mere boy, and you are a strong and determined woman.

| He makes me sick. I have all the confidence I need. Just wanted a little support and motivation from this forum. He is right, No one is making me read this forum. I am obviously not getting what I need here. So I don't feel the need to be here any longer. All that he has accomplised is turning me to another site. Thanks for all the support.

I left this forum months ago because it was dead. I mean like a doornail. No life.
Personally, I want a kick to the azz. I don't need my circle of friends telling me I look just fine. I look just fine to them because they are 75 pounds overweight to my 20. I want to associate with people on a forum who are serious about meeting their goals and not just looking for a place to whine or get justification for eating a pack of cookies because they walked for half an hour two days ago.
Most people are the average of the top 5 people they are around the most. Habits are contagious. I can't change my family for them. I can't change my coworkers for them. I can only change myself and associating myself with other like minded people who are changing themselves will only help me reach my own goals.
I had an ex husband whose whole goal in life was to be a police officer. Do you know what that pansy azz did? He quit after the first week because he couldn't take the way the instructors in training demeaned him. That's what they do. That's how they mold officers. I lost respect for my husband after that point. And he has gone through life quitting job after job when the going got tough or when he felt like things were a bit unfair.
This new forum is a huge step in the right direction. So many people need a kick in their fat rear end. I say Thank You!

| If the Tough Love forums have to stay than perhaps it would be wise to put it farther down the list of General Discussion categories, like at the bottom. It's second in the list and maybe newbies in particular would search through it before the other reputable topics that are farther down the list. Once they get into the Tough Love category they don't want to stick around and therefore never get to the good positive stuff here. Just a thought. If the Tough Love forum would have been here when I first came it's highly possible that I would not have stuck around, which would have been a shame because I have learned quite a bit here and have received a lot of positives.

Why are you so attracted to the tough love?
Are you too lazy to scroll? Put down that Twinkie and use the scroll bar.
Michelle, you want censorship. You are still fat and it galls you that other fat girls do what it takes to become slender womanly women and you lack the will to do it. You are scared that you will be the only fat girl in the world.

I know what you mean Bama - I'm still over 200 and someone at work said "You're getting TINY!" It only made sense in the context that I work with a lot of people that are between 3 and 500 pounds.

Bama make a great point. People today are so weak. If I were a police cadet is would want them to kick my butt and make me tough and smart. The instructors are not mean and when a cop is faced with a maniac trying to kill him or a fellow officer he's grateful that they were tough on him.
CPH is a good forum and I hope that Tough Love makes it better. Cops and soldiers can't be wimps and hope to survive. Fatlings are wimps and they are dropping like flies.
Bama and Tank, you two will reach a point when staying unfat will be easy. There is a saying in special forces; Train Hard Fight Easy. The Marines have a saying, "Pain is weakness leaving your body."
I have a saying. Phony moral outrage directed at me is fattitude struggling to maintain control of you.
Bama and Tank, your fattitude is on its way out never to return again. Use your experience to help others.

| I'm working on my best friend right now, trying to save up for enough to rehab a thrift shop or garage sale bike and get her active. (It's mostly the repairs that cost you- plus who can resist a little "bike bling" when it's someone you love?)

POSITIVE INFORMATION ABOUT LOSING WEIGHT, EXERCISE, AND NUTRITIONAL EATING FROM PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY CARE CAN BE FOUND IN THE OTHER CATEGORIES ON THESE FORUMS. THIS "TOUGH LOVE" CATEGORY IS NOT SUPPORTED BY MOST OF THE MEMBERS ON THIS FORUM.

And you are fat and you have been fat for a very long time.
What is nutritional eating?
This forum is not going to salve you or indulge you in your lies and denial. You will hear the unpopular truth here.
If you are fat you did it to yourself and you and only you can do what it takes to achieve a healthy weight through a mature and responsible lifestyle.
You have the power to change but you have to decide whether or not to find that power and use it.
If you think that allowing yourself to become fat and sickly is unacceptable then you have come to the right place but if you think that allowing yourself to get fat and stay fat is acceptable join the fat acceptance movement and perfect your intellectual dishonesty and denial then stop by here and try to sabotage the efforts of people who are learning to love their family more than food. I would love to rebuke you.

| Rebuke means to criticize sharply. (per Merriam Webster dictionary) You do that every chance you get with me and many others, personal attacks that have nothing to do with our honesty. You stooped real low and went into the general discussions category today and did it to a woman who started her own post who was already depressed. You should be ashamed of yourself! Why do you lie so much? I rebuke liars and that is why you got a proper rebuking.
Shame? You are obese and gluttonous. I think it is time for you to get familiar with the Heavenly virtues.
The Seven Contrary Virtues:
humility, kindness, abstinence, chastity, patience, liberality, diligence
You would be wise to learn these and practice them.

MichelleP, this is not for the faint of heart. This is as serious as a heart attack. If you come here you'd better expect to take some lumps. If you want to be salved and indulged in your denial you can go to an Atkins forum and blame carbohydrates or you can go to http://www.fiercefatties.com and blame everything and everyone. In fact MichelleP I would suggest you go there and see a very amplified version of delusion and fattitude.
Bergamasque was brutally honest and as tough as that is to hear and as devoid of love it was it's the truth and you know it.
How noble are you? Why is it that you placed food above your responsibility to yourself and others? What he said sounded crass but it's the truth. Truth before harmony!
You need a man like him who will give it to you straight and honest. Sometimes the truth hurts.
This is tough love and remember you can't have true love without complete honesty and the first person you need to get honest with if yourself.
The help and the love is here for you but maybe not in the proportions you want but like the song says, "you can't always get what you want but if you try sometime you just might get what you need." You need this Michelle. You may not think so now but you do. You will get some hurt feelings but compared to being obese and unhealthy and dying prematurely it really is a small price to pay.
You will not be chased from here. You are welcome here but ya gotta learn to hang with the big dogs.
