more than a week ago I did heavy weight training and my bicep has been sore ever since, i cant extend my right arm as it hurts too much in the bicep when i try to. the doctors said the pain would ease after 72 hours but its been more than a week and it still hurts. the only thing they told me to do is keep it in a sling and take ibuprofren. but ive been trying to extend it and it hurts a lot. i have to go back to work tomorrow because ive been off for a week and am afraid of getting sacked.
the doctors are no help and I dont know what to do to reduce the pain and straighten my arm, should i just force is even if it hurts?
any help would be greatly appreciated.

| I'd say it's a combination of you overexerting yourself and the fact you probably haven't done such strenuous workouts in a long time. I've had similar experiences after entering a workout program after taking a long hiatus from the program. The first thing that's important is to stretch prior to the workout (assuming you didn't) as it often prevents injury and locking up like you're currently experiencing. Immediately afterward, I would have iced it. Of course it's too late to ice it immediately afterward now because that time has passed, lol, but if the doctors found nothing, I'd assume there is no cause for concern. I can't remember how long it took my pain to subside and me to be able to stretch my arm again, but each day, I gradually tried to stretch it a little further and not hold it in that same position every time. You'll find eventually that you adapt to the pain and then you wont notice it and it'll eventually fade away. Sometimes you can also over-think the situation and feel as though you're in more pain than you actually are, but that's another story. Hope this helps if not reassures you at all.
