| Has anyone tried Lipovarin? It is supposed to increase your metabolism by quite a bit, and I just wondered if anyone had any experiences to share? I live in Canada and it is not available here, only US right now. this is the number one rated metabolism booster out there, and if I could order it across the border I would love to try it.

i have seen other metabolism boosters on the market in the supermarket.. but the thing that worries me with metabolism boosters is this.. if u excercise and speed up ur metabolism, u do get quite a bit more hungry then usual (well i do anyway) if u want to lose weight u ahve to be doing some form of excercise .. so then we add metabolism boosters to the equation and we have metabolism increased by lots!! = very hungry!! = eat lots more .. and lets face it.. there is only so much that fruit does for one .. lol.. u would have to eat more and eat extremely healthy in order for the fast metabolism to work effectively dont you think???
i am not a expert by any means but it was just something i was thinking about and thought i would see what others thought ..

Good point Lori.....I am not concerned with controlling my eating habits. I have learned how to stick to a daily/ weekly routine that works for me, and there are always ways of suppressing increased appetite. I have no problem maintaining my weight...that is not an issue. I quit smoking a few years back, and that is when I gained a lot of weight. Since I did atkins, I have maintained my weight to within 2 pounds of my lowest scale weight. My problem is in the actual losing...I need something to help my metabolism burn more than it is currently burning, as my body obviously feels I am eating the right amount of calories and getting the right amount of exercise if I neither lose nor gain. I was just wondering if anyone has tried Lipovarin and what their results were, as all the diet sites claim they are the best.
Thanks for your help!

This is just a personal opinion, but I would be very, very leery of taking/doing anything, outside of diet control and exercise that offers to "boost" metabolism. No matter how effective, I'd think twice, three times and more about taking any artificial substance that will affects your heart rate. I think you said on another post that you had been low carb dieting for about a year and had lost 50 lbs. Here's a couple of things (and again, purely my personal opinion) that might help you to jump start your metabolism other than suppliments:
1) Increase your caloric intake. Your body has the beautiful ability to raise or lower its metabolic rate based on the amount of energy available to it. After a year of dieting, your metabolic rate may have slowed down to meet the amount of energy you are supplying
2) Check not just how much, but what, you are eating. If your diet plan is still focused on controlling carbs, try altering or increasing the carbs you are choosing to ones that are as nutrient rich as possible. The most nutrient dense veggies tend to also be the ones with metabolism boosting potentials
(3) Try to keep your protein intake to about 30% of your daily calories
4) I don't know your general health or fitness level, but, along with your diet, I'd suggest that if you can safely include interval training in your cardio, as well as incorporate 2-3 days of weight training this might supply just the "boost" you need.
Whatever you decide, good luck!

Thank you Suenos...all good points. I actually stopped doing Atkins over a year ago now...have basically been eating what I want, even the odd cookie or chinese food dinner, because I thought the same thing. I figured I had bottomed out on carbs, so I introduced them back into my diet. Mostly fruit and veggies though....very little bread or starch. I am trying very hard to find a versaclimber here in Canada, (can't seem to find a Canadian supplier) because time and opportunity are a big factor in my exercise routine. Hubby and I work opposite shifts...when I work, he sleeps, and I try to get my exercise in between work, hubby's naps, kids activities, etc. I am sure we all have the same problem....I also live in a rural area, and can't get to a gym or pool very often. Any exercise I get is pretty well up to me, so I would like something intense like versaclimber, because it is a hard workout for a short time. I am not sure how these metabolism boosters work, which is why I thought I would ask on here. Are they really hard on your body, or is it a simple matter of kick starting you out of that "dieting plateau"? I just don't know....I have tried so many different ways to lose pounds in the last year, and I just can't seem to get going again. I thought if I could get a supplement that got me started, I could probably stop taking them fairly soon....just want to fire up my internal furnace! lol
Thanks for your suggestions though...:)

Hi Broker -
You can get a hard workout in a short time just by using water-filled bottles or cheap dumbells (both available in Canada, I'm sure).
I always stress that what you eat (as well as how much of it) is more important than the exact form of exercise you take. But resistance training is as effective, if not more so, than cardio (as I learned to my considerable and lengthy cost).

Yeah, metabolism can be speeded by taking more water. And exercise...
I believe taking fat burners is unhealthy. I`d believe a fat blocker is a bit more healthy way.. or not?

| exercise , lots of water, and green tea was my recipe to speed up my metabolism. I did the fat blocker thing, and to be honest, i dont think they work well enough to encourage a big weight loss. Maybe about 4 lbs in a year?
