what do u weigh? how tall are you? and how old are you? these things are all relevant.. u say ur goal weight is a BMI of 17.5 but that is simply a BMI not a weight measure.. i am just curious to know what u did to lose the weight, what u started at and what u are at now.. .. this is a great forum and i think you will find that people are full of information and ideas to help u feel better about urself..
*smiles*

This website has a FAQ about ED:
http://www.thelegacywebsite.com/faqs_disorder.html
You may also find something worthwhile in other posts on the ED part of this forum:

Also, do you happen know your Body Fat percentage? (it is an indication of how much of you is fat - and so how much of you is muscle, or how toned you are). How does it compare to reference values for your age and gender? I find it useful (and healthier) to aim for a particular "lean" % rather than a BMI. It means that I'm happier to accept a higher weight/BMI if it is caused by muscle gain. I'll still look slim but I'll look healthier too.

| I'm 5'11 125lbs 19 years old. I've struggled with food my whole life and self esteem issues (yea guys suffer too). My highest was 165 (eww) and now I'm at my lowest ever. Umm my weight was was eating under 200 calories a day for several months and exercising like mad. Maybe if my BMI drops to from 17.5 to 15 I'll be happy with how I look.

It seems that your weight loss is not to be healthy, but to be happy with your image. However, reaching a certain BMI isn't going to suddenly make you happier with your image is it?
Maybe you could consider the option of seeing your doctor or a counsellor, in order to find out why you need to have a BMI of 15 in order to be happy?
I'm going through similar motions of being thin = happiness to me, where sometimes I will fast for around a week or so. However, I ended up in hospital twice in November 05 from not eating properly/at all/over exercise, and I've found myself to be just as miserable, even after losing a further stone. I've started to open up to one or two people about my eating habits (friends are very suspicious, parents don't have a clue I live away from home at uni), and I find that talking helps me deal with these kinda issues.
Is there anyone you can talk to about how its making you feel, emotionally? It could be a huge weight off your shoulders.

Wow, you are skinny. According to the charts, at 17 BMI you're considered "Underweight." I don't think it's your weight that is what is bothering you. Are you going for a certain "Look?" I hear the "living skeleton" look is out this season. :)
Self-deprechiation is easy to do. Lots of people do it. Find something positive about yourself and compliment yourself on it. It may sound stupid or conceited, but try it. I doesn't even have to be about your body. "My hair looks nice today." "This shirt looks nice on me." "I did a good job in that game yesterday." While doing this, try to stop thinking negatively about yourself. Easier said than done, right? Start small - just stop yourself when you start having a negative thought.
It's easier to dwell on the negative. Thinking positively can really help you out. Also, take PrincessPanda's advice and talk to someone. It will help.

BMI doesn't mean much, unfortunately.
Why don't you try and gain some muscle. That way, your body fat % drops automatically.
'Weight' isn't bad per se. Too much body fat is.

Dear Kyle:
What you have said sends clear "red flags" as far as I can see. I used to work at a University as a live-on resident director. Should a student come to me with the same concerns, admitted weight-loss strategies, and body dimensions, I would strongly encourage them to seek counselling and put their name on the university watch list for students who are at-risk.
Being thin doesn't make you happy. Certianly a BMI of 15 won't either. By coming on this website and joining the forum, it seems you are at the point where you are able to admit to yourself that you may need a little help. As great as everyone is here, I encourage you to seek help from a professional who deals almost exclusively with eating disorders, body image and self-worth/confidence.
You are on the right track coming here, hopefully you will feel ready to take the next step.

I know this is Kyle's thread...
But Princess, PLEASE don't do that (eat 300 calorie or less)
What you will lose eating like that is your muscle (and remember that muscle mass helps to boost your metabolism and naturally increase your calorie burning)
300 Calorie or less each day, will starve your skin, your hair, and your organs. 300 calories or less each day is the GREAT formula if you want to be sick.
It's not a way of eating that you can maintain for a long term of time.
I know you now only want now to lose 10 pounds, but ask yourself "how will you eat AFTER you lose that 10 pounds?" If you return to the way of eating that caused your 10 pounds gain, you will probably re-gain it back and then need to repeat your destructive caloric intake again. And that too ruins metabolisms.
It's better to read the tutorials here about Nutrition and portions and plan your course of eating for your 'lifetime', so that the result is you are constant and maintaining your desired weight, but also nourishing and feeding your body completely.

I do the Firm exercise videos and usually they have 5 master instructors doing the workouts. Their basicly all thin but they have different body shapes. Some of the shapes look better than others. But it's interesting to see the different body shapes that look good because their body shapes are different too. On the transfer videos I thought all those skinny girls kinda looked bad because they were musclure. But their all skinny right. I'm right there on the brink of skinny about 5 to 10 pounds off. I'm in most of my skinny clothes, not all, and I still don't like my body.
I'm going to lose the last of the weight but even though my legs don't rub they look muscleure. their bigger than my arms. My mom says I'm big boned. When I wear clothes I can cover up my legs they look ok. but when I look in the mirror even though my legs don't rub they look bigger than the rest of my body.
I accept that. but I'll never wear shorts. And I look pretty good with pants. What ever. Not everyone is 36- 26-36. Right

Kyle,
Please don't try and loose weight to get to a certain BMI... (BMI doesn't take into consideration muscle)... If your BMI is 17.5 you must be really skinny, and if you think your fat then i assure you that you have an eating disorder and you need help.... Loosing weight doesn't make you happier... The happiness you feel from it is false.. it soon goes away and you are left with nothing but a wasted body and life.. I should know because i am recovering from anorexia and my BMI was 15 and i looked horrible, its now about 17 and i already feel so much better... i need to bring it some more and i'm working on that... If you think your unhappy at a BMI of 17.5, what makes you think you'll be any happerier below that... it's a bad thing to be caught into. I strongly advise you seek treatment, it saved my life.. My life is now on track and i hope that you realise that its not worth it.. besides skinny guys aren't attractive... as long as you eat a decent amount of healthy and nutritious foods as well as doing some exercise than you'll be healthy and happy and how your supposed to be..
goodluck and get well!!!
