| My sister seems pretty convinced if you don't suck in your stomach while doing ab work, your body will form them into a solid pouch that you can't get rid of. Then again, she contradicts herself every 2.4 seconds. I wondered if anyone had any evidence supporting or refuting this. Common sense says your muscles are pretty much stationary and it shouldn't matter whether you pull them in or not but most other muscles are right on top of bones, so maybe their shape is in fact determined by their position as they grow...hmn.

LOL - no, the abs are pretty much fixed. It doesn't make any difference whether you suck in your gut or not when you exercise them. The real issue is whether you're able to eliminate the layer of bodyfat between the abs and the skin, which will enable you to actually see them (vs. just KNOWING that they're there).
Best of luck.
