Since I have gained weight, I can literally see the fat. Mostly on my legs and gut. Why does it always have to go to those places. Anyway, I think this is something that can really hinder my diet efforts. I see in the mirror a fat person so then I get depressed and then I eat. Even though I know that eating is only going to make that fat person I see get fatter. So, I need some advise on how to turn this around into something positive so I am not thinking bad about myself all the time. I do keep telling myself that I haven't gained all my weight back and that I have gained this and lost once before and that I can do it again. But, that only goes so far. So, looking for other self motivating things to help me out. |

I'm new to this board and I'm sure most everyone else already knows what you do for exercise, but I don't yet. I'm sure I'll pick up on it after a while, though. What I found to be extremely motivating for me was to begin a training program! I fell in love with running, and found a training plan to stick to and at the end of the training plan, actually participate in a race! They're so much fun! What you train for could just as easily be walking, biking, etc. Most charity runs have tons of walkers and prizes and medals for them as well. It's motivating to know that you're training for a specific event. It helps you concentrate on being a better athlete, getting a faster time, etc, and you're not just focusing on how diffucult it is or losing the stubborn fat. I began running to lose weight, then decided I needed to lose weight to be a better runner! The training completely turned my mentality upside down! And that's a very positive thing. Thanks! Yes I walk and have for years. Right now I am doing 4miles a day or I do an hour on my exercise bike and then walk 2miles. In the past I have done everything from the elliptical, yoga, exercise tapes, the wii, etc. I get bored and end up walking again. For whatever reason I can always manage to pull out a few miles no matter what. I completely agree with you about needing to be in better shape for exercise. It's much harder for me now that I have gained then it was before. Before I was putting in long amounts of time on the elliptical that kicks my butt. So, I see the point there. And it does help me think more in a diet way. Anyway, thanks for the encouraging words.. |
