Hi guys,
I'm 18 and recently went through a period of anorexia. Four years ago I was anorexic for two years as well and almost died. So, less than two months ago, I was in the low 90s (my doctor wouldn't tell me my exact weight) and had low blood sugar, cuts and bruises wouldn't heal for weeks, and I got hypothermia in the middle of a summer day. Well, I started eating but went through cycles of binging and purging, and then just flat out eating too much.
I've gained so much weight and look chubby. I can't describe how much I hate myself. I also get edema sometimes...so I never know if I'm actually this fat or if it's bloating. I miss the anorexia, but I would give anything to just be where I was when I was active and healthy, not sick.
If I put this weight on in such a short period of time, will I lose some of it pretty fast if I just eat normally for the first time in so long? I was a very serious runner, too, but the edema makes it really painful sometimes.

| concentrate on health now, if you diet but you're still unhealthy the edema is going to make you feel bloated even if you lose weight. Eat what would be best for your body in the right amount. Start a very nutrition packed diet at maintenance calories for your body. Try that until you start to see the effects of the anorexia go away. Then worry about weight loss. Right now if you don't get your body healthy again you won't lose weight and you'll look sickly.

As you continue to eat calories at an appropriate (non-starving) level your metabolism eventually adjusts and normalises and then weight gain stops and weight over-gained may then be lost.
Once an anorexic remember to question yourself. When you say "I look chubby" you need to wonder if this is objectively so. You could ask someone you trust. For me I prefer to go with numbers for example BMI of 20-25 is healthy, though as you suggest perhaps the medical professionals in your life adviced you not to look at the scale.
